You've made that shot a thousand times. Then the game's on the line — and your mind goes somewhere else. That's not weakness. That's your brain under threat. I'm a neuroscientist who spent 25 years studying exactly why — and how to fix it, fast.

You already know the feeling. The play you've drilled a hundred times and in the moment that matters, your body hesitates. Your mind races.
It's not you.
That's your brain doing exactly what brains do under threat. I've spent my career studying that exact moment — why some athletes stay sharp under pressure while others lock up, with the identical skill and the identical practice reps.
Whether you're 12 or 18, on the bench or starting every game the fix is the same: you learn to run your own brain instead of letting the moment run you.
Here's what that actually looks like. We talk about the exact moment that gets in your head: a missed shot, a mistake, a coach or parent watching. Then I give you one real tool you can use that week. A reset breath for the huddle, a cue that pulls your focus back to the play instead of the fear. Not theory. Something you actually use before your next game.
Picture it: game on the line, everyone watching and your mind is quiet. You already know what to do next, because we didn't just train the skill. We trained the moment.
That's what I'm here for. Not to add more pressure... you've got enough of that. Just to listen first, then help you get there.
Here's what nobody tells you: you don't lose games because you lack skill. You lose access to your skill — right when you need it most.
One missed shot, and suddenly your coach is watching, your parents are watching, and the next shot feels ten times heavier than the first. Your body knows what to do. Your mind just won't get out of the way.
That spiral isn't who you are. It's just your brain doing what brains do under threat and it's trainable, the same way a jump shot or a serve is trainable.
I'll teach you how to catch it before it starts: three seconds of breath that calms your body mid-game, a reset word that clears a mistake instead of carrying it into the next play, a cue that pulls your focus back to the ball instead of the fear.
No theory.
Just tools you can use between plays... tonight, in your next game.
We start with one question: what's the moment that actually gets in your head? A missed shot. The bench. A parent's face in the stands you can't stop noticing.
No judgment.
I just want to know what's really going on in there.
From there, we don't just talk about it... we build it. Right there in the session, we practice the exact tool for that exact moment, until it's something your body knows how to do, not just something you heard once.
You don't leave with homework or a lecture you'll forget by Tuesday. You leave with one thing that's already yours — ready for the next time it matters.
Ph.D. in Neuroscience (USC). Postdoctoral researcher, Carnegie Mellon. Over a decade at UC San Diego's Center for Neural Repair, studying how the brain physically rewires itself as you learn a new movement or skill. Published in Cell Reports.
Here's what over a decade in a lab actually taught me: the brain doesn't change because you understand it. It changes because you train it — on purpose, under real conditions, the same way a muscle does.
I'm also a lifelong soccer player and coach — so none of this is theory borrowed from a textbook.
It's science I've tested on a real field, with real athletes, under real pressure.
Still, the accomplishment that actually matters to me isn't on this list. It's the moment an athlete walks onto the field just a little more in control of their own mind than they were the week before.
That's the only stat I'm really keeping score of.
He never yelled louder when I made a mistake. He got quieter.
"What just happened in your head?" Not "what did you do wrong?"
One question.
It changed how I thought about pressure for good.
That's the coach I try to be for you now.
Picture this: game on the line, everyone watching and instead of your mind racing, you're calm. You already know exactly what to do next, because we didn't just practice the shot. We practiced that moment.
That's what we're building toward — together, one real tool at a time.
No lectures. No jargon. Just someone who's spent a career studying exactly why this works, and who wants to help you get there.

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.
Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.
Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!
We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.
Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.
Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.
Good Fit Guarantee — If your first lesson isn't the right fit, we'll move your lesson credit to a new coach. No hassle.
