Baseball is a frustrating sport. It is the ultimate team sport, and it is also the ultimate failure sport. The best players in the world still fail 7 out of every ten times they come to the plate. For youth athletes, constant failure can be frustrating and defeating. As a coach, I focus on teaching my athletes the importance of learning from failure and understanding that failure is the most outstanding teacher. Through personalized drills, individualized feedback that they can hear, and a constant positive attitude, I aim to help athletes not only grow as baseball players but also as leaders on the diamond.

Get to know Coach William

About Me:

I played baseball throughout my life, from T-ball all the way up until high school baseball, where I ceased participation after COVID-19 and transitioned into coaching during my free time. I primarily played outfield during travel ball and high school ball, but I have a deep knowledge of the catcher position and am equipped to instruct your child at every position and every level.

How I can help you improve your game:

As your coach, I will help you improve your game by tackling the mental side during practice so that you can read and react during the game. I often find that kids are overthinking during games, trying to fix 100 things in their swing during their at-bat when they need to focus on hitting the pitch. We will go through many different in-game scenarios and get the athlete to the point where anything in the game will have been discussed during our sessions.

What a typical training session looks like with me:

During our first training session, I would like to do a primary evaluation to see a child's skills in hitting and fielding the ball. That will give me a sense of what they can improve on and where their baseline skill set is. Afterward, a session would be like a dynamic stretching routine followed by catch and then drills. These drills could include front toss, tee work, full-length batting practice, fungo drills, working on short and long hops, and other exercises. Each session will be curated to fit the athlete's needs.

Career summary and accomplishments:

I have always helped my dad coach my brother's little league team, but I did not become an official coach till the Fall of 2020 when I was the assistant coach for a 12U travel team as a part of the Future Star Baseball Program. From the fall of 2020 till the fall of 2021, I worked with Future Star Baseball as an assistant coach for the 12U and 13U teams. In the spring of 2022, my final semester of high school, I was the head coach for a Juniors Little League team (14U) for the entire season, alongside my two high school classmates and friends. During the summers of 2022 and 2023, I coached 11U and then 12U Oakland Little League All-Stars as an assistant coach, although I filled in as the head coach for a large bulk of the 2022 all-star season. In addition, I have worked four full summers at a baseball camp with a wide variety of age ranges from as young as 5 to as old as 15. I also have experience working with high school athletes as well.

Best coach I ever had:

Steve Paltiel was the best coach I ever had because we failed and persevered as a team. Running during practice always happened as a team, clean up after practice was a team event, you were never to clean up your items before the team gear was away into his car. Steve cared deeply about each player. Steve also emphasized the importance of not getting frustrated with youth athletes for physical mistakes. Every kid is going to boot the ball or make a bad throw. The only time Steve would get upset would be for mental mistakes. Errors that could have been prevented with pre-planning or more focus. Steve's ability to connect with each kid personally was exceptional and something I try to emulate in my coaching style.

What athletes and parents should know about me:

Parents and atheltes should know that I have a deep passion for coaching. It is not a job that I have to make a little money as a college student, but a job and a skill that I have learned and grown from over time. I have had the unique privilege of being around many skilled coaches and am genuinely invested in seeing my players improve. I keep in touch with my players and their families years after I have coached them and consider many of them extensions of my family.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.

The AU guarantee (refund policy) has you covered! If you determine the coach isn't a good fit after your first lesson, let us know within 24 hours and you're eligible for a refund. We will also be happy to recommend another coach - be sure to contact our support team.

Our coaches are open to helping athletes of any age and skill level. Please message your desired coach to ensure their skillset fits your needs.
