Data-driven coach building grit, biomechanics, efficiency, durability

As a former Division I track & field athlete, I respect the importance of biomechanics, performance data, and technique to help athletes move better, get stronger, and stay healthy over the long term. Every session is individualized based on how you move, not just a generic program, so we’re targeting exactly what will improve your performance on the field, court, or track. I focus on developing speed, power, coordination, and durability, while also teaching athletes why they’re doing what they’re doing so they can take ownership of their development. For parents, that means a safer, smarter training process with measurable progress. For athletes, it means gaining a real competitive edge, not just working hard, but improving in the areas that actually matter.

Get to know Coach Will

About Me:

I’m a sports performance coach, strength and conditioning coach, and biomechanical analyst with a background in track and field as both a coach and a former Division I NCAA athlete. I’ve worked across youth, high school, and collegiate levels, including coaching cross country and track and field at the college level, helping athletes progress to compete at programs like SUNY Oneonta and Colby-Sawyer, and positioning athletes for opportunities to earn collegiate scholarships.

My experience spans hands-on coaching, program design, and performance analysis. I’ve worked as an Athletic Development Coordinator and Head Coach, where I built and implemented training systems focused on speed, strength, movement efficiency, and long-term athlete development. That includes everything from onboarding athletes and running group sessions to designing individualized programs based on each athlete’s goals and sport demands.

What separates my approach is the integration of biomechanics and data into training. I work with motion analysis technology to break down sprint mechanics, change of direction, and force production, allowing me to identify inefficiencies, asymmetries, and limitations that are often missed. From there, I build targeted training plans that directly translate to on-field and on-court performance, while also reducing injury risk.

I’ve worked with athletes preparing for collegiate competition, return to play situations, and long-term development pathways, including athletes who have gone on to become national champions in track and field. My coaching philosophy is centered around building complete athletes, combining strength and conditioning principles with movement quality, coordination, resilience, and grit.

For athletes, that means gaining a real competitive edge and putting themselves in position for the next level. For parents, it means a structured, safe, and accountable process with clear communication and measurable progress. My goal is simple. Help athletes move better, get stronger, and earn opportunities at the collegiate level while staying healthy.

How I can help you improve your game:

I help athletes improve their game by targeting the qualities that actually drive performance, not just running them through workouts. Everything starts with how you move. I assess sprint mechanics, change of direction, balance, and force production to identify inefficiencies and limitations. From there, I build a structured plan to improve speed, explosiveness, and control in ways that directly transfer to your sport.

A major focus is on developing acceleration, top-end speed, and deceleration ability, which are critical in almost every sport. We train how to produce force efficiently, absorb it safely, and redirect it quickly. This not only improves performance but also reduces injury risk by building stronger, more resilient athletes who can handle higher workloads.

Strength and conditioning are another key piece, but it’s always tied back to movement and performance. We focus on relative strength, power development, core stability, and coordination so that you’re not just stronger in the weight room, but more effective in competition. I also emphasize reaction, timing, and body control to help athletes become more efficient and confident in game situations.

What separates my approach is the level of individualization. Every athlete moves differently, so every program is built around your specific needs, goals, and sport demands. I also integrate feedback and, when possible, data and video analysis so you can see your progress and understand what’s improving.

My goal is to help you move better, get faster and stronger, and translate that into real performance on the field, court, or track.

What a typical training session looks like with me:

A typical session runs about an hour and is built around your specific needs and goals. We start with a targeted warm-up to improve mobility and activation, then move into speed and movement work like sprint mechanics, change of direction, and deceleration. From there, we focus on strength and power development, followed by reactive and coordination work that translates directly to your sport. We finish with either conditioning or recovery work, depending on the day.

I offer flexible options depending on what works best for you. You can come to my location, I can travel to you, or we can train remotely with structured programming and feedback. I also have access to multiple training locations, so we can find a setup that fits your schedule and environment.

Career summary and accomplishments:

Sports performance coach, strength and conditioning coach, and biomechanical analyst with a background as a former Division I NCAA track and field athlete. I competed as a state championship-level athlete in high school, earned all-conference honors in college, and qualified for IC4A competition, giving me firsthand experience in what it takes to progress through each level of competition.

My coaching experience spans youth, high school, collegiate, and international-level athletes. I’ve worked with and helped develop NCAA national champions, youth national champions, and athletes competing on the international stage. I’ve also guided athletes through key transition points in their careers, including prep school recruitment, all-state recognition, and earning college athletic scholarship opportunities.

Professionally, I’ve held roles as an Athletic Development Coordinator and Head Coach, where I built and implemented structured training systems focused on speed, strength, biomechanics, and long-term athlete development.

Best coach I ever had:

The best coach I ever had was my high school coach, Dave Bishop, who was both my offensive line coach and the head strength and conditioning coach. He had a major impact on how I approach coaching today. He emphasized leadership, accountability, and taking care of athletes year-round, not just during the season.

What stood out most was how much he genuinely cared about his athletes. He went out of his way to make sure we were healthy, prepared, and supported in every aspect, whether it was training, recovery, or just making sure we were in the right place mentally. That level of investment left a lasting impression on me.

I’ve carried that same mindset into my own coaching. It’s not just about performance; it’s about building trust, developing athletes the right way, and making sure they’re set up to succeed both on and off the field.

What athletes and parents should know about me:

I’m focused on helping athletes reach their goals while staying healthy along the way. Every program is individualized to improve performance, build confidence, and reduce injury risk. I care about long-term development, making sure athletes not only get better now, but are set up for success at the next level.

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.
