Why Train With Me?

Hey! My name is Tristan Lam and I’m currently 21 years old. I have recently concluded my junior hockey career and I’m more than happy to be helping out the next generation! Now having gone through the different stages and tiers of hockey, I only want to help the youth grow and develop. During the season, there is not much time to work on skills, or the little details and that’s what I’m here for! Up this point in my career, I’d like to say I am a relatively skilled player and I’d love to teach the youth what I can do, so they can do it as well!

Who is the best coach you ever had and why?
The best coaches I’ve had were the coaches who prioritized details and the players. I look to do the same!
What should athletes and parents know about you?
I’m young! I may not be as experienced in terms of coaching as some other coaches, though I’m fresh out of the gate from my playing career. Therefore, I know what it’s like to be a young player looking to improve.

Coaching Background

Summary of Coaching Background
During my playing time, I’ve participated in many private sessions. Meaning I know how to teach in the most effective way. As far as myself, I have coached kids from ages 6, all the way to age 24! I am currently an assistant coach for a peewee team in Pasadena. Being an assistant coach allows me to not have to worry so much about systems and worry more about skills. Going to the kids after their repetition, letting them know what they could do better or what they did well.
How can you help someone improve their game?
By helping them improve their stick skills, awareness, and their mental game. I praise putting a reason behind why I have clients do certain drills, making sure it gets instilled in their head.
What does a typical training session look like?
I typically like to switch up what I have clients do. I will normally have many variations of drills working on passing, shooting, stickhandling, etc. Or, if the client has something they’d like to work on, I will cater to that!
