About Me:

I’m Mitchell Grimes, a former collegiate and professional football player with over 15 years of experience on the field and several years of experience coaching and developing athletes of all levels. I was a four-year college starter, a three-time All-Conference selection, 1 time All-American, and went on to play five years professionally in the Arena Football League.

But my story started long before all that. In high school, I was mistreated — as a player and as a kid. I didn’t always have the confidence or support I needed, and that experience stayed with me. Instead of letting it define me, I let it drive me. I made a promise to myself to rise above it, to outwork every doubt, and to prove myself right. And I did.

That’s why I coach the way I do today. My mission is to pour into my athletes the belief, encouragement, and guidance I once needed. I’m here to build confidence, teach life through football, and help each athlete realize that their value isn’t defined by anyone else — it’s defined by the work they put in and the person they choose to become.

Faith, focus, and fundamentals are what drive me. My passion is helping athletes unlock their full potential — not just in performance, but in mindset, confidence, and leadership. I believe in developing complete athletes who are disciplined, coachable, and driven both on and off the field. Success in sports and in life comes down to preparation, consistency, and character — and that’s exactly what I teach every athlete I train.

How I can help you improve your game:

My goal is to meet you where you are and help you take the next step forward — as an athlete and as a man. Whether you’re looking to improve your technique, strength, mental toughness, or football IQ, I’ll create a plan that fits your position and your goals.

I focus on proper mechanics, film study, and developing game-speed habits that translate to real performance. But beyond that, I care about helping you grow in discipline, leadership, and confidence — the same traits that shape you on the field and prepare you for life off it.

You’ll not only get better physically, you’ll learn how to think, move, and carry yourself like an elite player and an even better man. Every session is designed to push you, encourage you, and prepare you for the moments that matter most — under the lights and in life.

What a typical training session looks like with me:

Each session starts with dynamic warm-ups and movement prep to get your body ready to perform. From there, we’ll dive into position-specific drills focused on technique, footwork, and explosiveness. Depending on your position and goals, we’ll incorporate strength, agility, and game-situation reps to simulate real competition.

I coach with high energy and clear feedback — expect to be challenged, corrected, and encouraged throughout. We’ll wrap each session with a quick breakdown of what you did well, what to focus on next, and how to apply those lessons outside of training.

Every session ends with a finisher — something that pushes your limits, tests your mental toughness, and reminds you why you started. It’s more than conditioning; it’s about proving to yourself that you can dig deeper, fight harder, and finish stronger — because that’s what great athletes and great men do.

Career summary and accomplishments:

I was a 3x All-Conference, 1x All-American, and a four-year starter at the collegiate level. After college, I went on to start for multiple professional Arena Football teams and had the opportunity to be evaluated by NFL scouts. Those years of dedication, sacrifice, and high-level competition shaped me into the player — and coach — I am today. My experiences taught me the value of hard work, consistency, and faith, and now I use that to help athletes reach their full potential both on and off the field.

Coach Rucker was the best coach I ever had! He wasn’t just great at drawing up plays — he taught me how to lead, how to respond to adversity, and how to believe in myself when things got tough. He cared about the man I was becoming just as much as the player I was on the field. That’s the kind of coach I strive to be every single day — one who teaches, mentors, and helps athletes build character, confidence, and resilience.

When you train with me, it’s bigger than football. My mission is to develop complete athletes — physically, mentally, and spiritually. I push every player to give their best, but I also teach them why the work matters. I believe in discipline, accountability, and heart — because those traits not only win games, they shape great men and leaders for life.

Parents can trust that I’ll invest in your athlete with purpose. I bring the same energy, care, and attention to every session as I did when I was chasing my own dreams. My goal is simple: help your athlete become stronger, smarter, and more confident — in the game and in life.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.
