A piece of the game of softball is being able to deal with failure. If you get a hit 3 out of 10 times, you're a very good hitter, but you're still failing 7 out of 10 times. So how can we take these "failures" and learn from them? While it can be frustrating, we have to have a short memory in this sport. Taking an all-encompassing approach helps me improve other's skills. All of the drills that we do are for a reason, even our tee drills! Being able to look at the full picture of an athlete has always been how I work with athletes.
A typical training session (for hitting) with me would look like the following:
Warm up - stretch out your body
Tee Warm up - get ready to work on specific drills
Athlete specific drills - what's something that we need to work on? This is where we'll focus on our areas of improvement
Front toss drills - incorporating tracking the ball into our routine
Front toss swings - how can we adjust to balls thrown in different areas of the strike zone
Abs - your core is the most important part of being a great hitter - you can't be a great hitter without a strong core!
I have coached at several different levels. I have coached 12U, 16U, and 18U teams from Connecticut during my summers in college. After I graduated, I become the Graduate Assistant Coach as St. Lawrence University, a NCAA Division III institution in upstate New York. I had the great opportunity to learn a lot during my time at SLU because it was just myself and the head coach on staff. Since it was just the two of us, I was able to work with all hitters and specialized in infield defense with our infielders. I was also responsible for creating our teams strength and conditioning plans to get our athletes ready for competition.
Coach VK was the best coach I ever had! Even though I was only 13 when she coached me, she gave me the confidence to set my goals high. I would not have gone on to play softball in college if it were not for her. She was in college at the time and learning about the student athlete experience at the Division I level was my motivation to work hard. She held me accountable during my recruiting process and helped me set realistic goals to be able to be successful.
My goal is to help athletes achieve their goals, whatever they may be! I'm a big proponent of the idea 'hard work beats talent', and like to reinforce that as much as I can. The sport of softball has continued to grow during my lifetime and I'm very excited to see how far it will go!

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.
Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.
Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!
We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.
Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.
Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.
The AU guarantee (refund policy) has you covered! If you determine the coach isn't a good fit after your first lesson, let us know within 24 hours and you're eligible for a refund. We will also be happy to recommend another coach - be sure to contact our support team.
Our coaches are open to helping athletes of any age and skill level. Please message your desired coach to ensure their skillset fits your needs.
