Learning, not lessons. Get better where it counts—on the scorecard.

I help golfers play better—not just understand their swings, but actually shoot lower scores on the course. Most instruction is built around giving information. But information isn’t learning, and one lesson isn’t enough to create improvement. Getting better at golf is a process of skill development over time—through the right practice and the right feedback. My role is to guide players through that process so improvement becomes consistent—and shows up where it matters. As a master’s student in Golf Teaching and Learning at Keiser University’s College of Golf, I study how golfers actually learn under experienced PGA professionals. I work with competitive juniors and committed players who are serious about improving—not just collecting tips. Most players start with a structured program rather than a single session. Better golf swings aren’t built on more mechanics. They emerge by creating the conditions for success more consistently.

Get to know Coach Steven

About Me:

I started playing golf by joining my high school varsity team—it was the only way I could afford green fees. Learning under pressure wasn’t ideal, but it forced me to develop quickly. Within a year, I was breaking par and playing the No. 1 position.

Competition is still the lens through which I see the game. I’ve competed extensively at a high level, finishing 4th on the 2025 South Carolina Order of Merit in the Championship (scratch) flight of the U.S. Am Tour.

That experience shapes how I coach: performance first, understanding second, and results that actually show up on the course.

How I can help you improve your game:

HOW IMPROVEMENT ACTUALLY WORKS

Better golf is not only possible—it can be predictable.

My coaching is built on three principles:

• Ball flight never lies (objective feedback)

• Failure is feedback (skill development)

• Skills require sharpening (repetition over time)

Most golfers expect improvement to happen quickly. In reality, improvement comes from consistent feedback, repetition, and clear direction.

That’s why I don’t structure coaching around one-off lessons. Sessions build on each other, so players develop real skill—not just temporary fixes.

What a typical training session looks like with me:

Each session starts with your intent—what you’re trying to improve and why.

We observe ball flight, identify what it’s telling us, and make clear, manageable adjustments. You’ll understand what’s happening, why it’s happening, and what to work on next.

Sessions are structured but relaxed, with constant feedback and a focus on building skills that transfer to the course.

MOST PLAYERS START WITH A STRUCTURED PROGRAM

If you’re serious about improving, I recommend starting with a short-term coaching block like the 30-Day Scoring Program. That’s where real progress begins.

Single sessions are available, but improvement happens through consistency.

Career summary and accomplishments:

• U.S. Golf Teachers Federation Certified Golf Coach

• Competitive golfer (+2 handicap; 4th — 2025 SC Order of Merit, Championship Flight)

• M.S. in Golf Teaching & Learning (in progress), Keiser University College of Golf

• Former U.S. Soccer Grassroots Coach (youth development focus)

• Experience mentoring athletes in competitive environments

Best coach I ever had:

I’m a self-taught player, but the best coaches I’ve known share the same qualities: they’re patient, honest, and focused on long-term growth.

They don’t try to make you swing like someone else. They help you understand the game, trust what you’re doing, and take ownership of your improvement.

That’s the standard I try to bring into my coaching—guiding players through a process that leads to real, lasting improvement, not just temporary fixes.

What athletes and parents should know about me:

I care about the person, not just the scorecard.

Players can expect:

• Clear communication

• Honest feedback

• A structured path to improvement

Parents can expect professionalism, consistency, and a focus on long-term development—not quick fixes.

This is not a “lesson” environment—it’s a coaching relationship built around helping players improve over time.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.
