I deliver baseball instruction with an upbeat, relentlessly positive approach. I’ve worked with players at all levels, and have scouted a few players at the amateur level that will eventually wind up in the Hall of Fame. I specialize in middle infield defense, the fundamentals of the swing and I throw extremely accurate BP. Open to whatever specific baseball instrux needs to improve on and will develop player specific programs upon request. Video analysis will be utilized as requested. Default Emphasis will be on core offensive and defensive fundamentals while peppering in key positional nuances of the game in order to tap into the often overlooked 6th baseball tool - the intellectual appreciation of the game. Upbeat. Relentlessly positive messaging.

Get to know Coach Scott

About Me:

1st Team All Region JUCO INF. Big Bend Community College

West Coast Scouting Director - Team One Baseball - the original privately run premiere baseball showcase in the country. Alumni include: CC Sabathia, Roy Halladay, Josh Hamilton, Prince Fielder, Justin Upton, Mark Teixiera

How I can help you improve your game:

I try and get to know the player as quickly as possible. Understand where they are at in terms of mental approach to the game. Identify a players tangible skills, actions, throwing, fielding, running, swinging the bat, knowledge of the game. From there the instruction plan evolves organically.

What a typical training session looks like with me:

Training sessions vary greatly depending on need of the athlete. For example: If it’s glove work, we’ll get into some Ron Washington short range fungo drills. With some energetic chatter working glove side, back hand, short hop picks and then into mass groundballs. Take time to talk technique as applicable. Take time for a break and hydration. Continue to talk baseball and get to know the person and player. Repeat formula for pitching, hitting, throwing, running-centric-workouts.

I throw outstanding BP but most players cannot hit for more than 40-45 minutes continuously without breakdown in form via fatigue so during a BP centric workout there is extra time to talk and discuss technique and adjustments and approach to hitting.

Career summary and accomplishments:

I’ve coached and given private instruction to youth through HS and College level athletes for over 15 years.

Best coach I ever had:

Barry Fretwell . Baseball man. Gave me an understanding of the nuances of the game. How to spot subtleties in the game that could be used as an advantage that could potentially lead to a win. And he made sure everyone on the club was always playing loose.

What athletes and parents should know about me:

Baseball is quite possibly the most difficult game of all to master, and the only way to approach the game is via a loose, positive, yet focused mindset in which player treats every drill and or pitched ball with guided, focused intent and effort - and if that particular drill or pitched ball doesn’t work out, it’s critical to get over it quick because the next pitch (and or drill) is coming and that pitch becomes the NEXT most important effort. And REPEAT!

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.

The AU guarantee (refund policy) has you covered! If you determine the coach isn't a good fit after your first lesson, let us know within 24 hours and you're eligible for a refund. We will also be happy to recommend another coach - be sure to contact our support team.

Our coaches are open to helping athletes of any age and skill level. Please message your desired coach to ensure their skillset fits your needs.
