Get to know Scott

Creating confident athletes who lead on the field and in life.

Many student-athletes struggle to stay confident and consistent when adversity strikes. I help them build resilient confidence, develop practical mental skills, and create the habits needed to perform at their best under pressure and grow through every challenge.

About me

I believe every athlete has far more potential than they realize. My passion is helping young people discover that potential by building the confidence, resilience, and mindset to keep growing when things get hard.

I'm naturally curious, and that curiosity shapes how I coach. Rather than telling athletes what to think, I help them better understand themselves. I ask questions, listen closely, and create an environment where athletes feel safe to be honest, challenged to grow, and empowered to take ownership of their development.

Drawing on more than 25 years in high-performance environments across music and sports, I combine practical coaching experience with simple, evidence-based mental performance strategies that athletes can immediately apply. My work has taken me from one-on-one coaching sessions to athletic departments, clubs, and championship teams, but what continues to inspire me most is seeing a young person believe in themselves in a way they never have before.

I am the author of Compete with Confidence, The Athlete's Guide to Leadership, and Age Is Your Edge, and co-author of Max Out Mindset for Parents. My work has supported programs that have won 14 national championships and nearly 30 state championships, but I measure success differently. The greatest reward is watching athletes become more confident, more resilient, and more prepared—not just for competition, but for life.

Whether I'm coaching an individual athlete, leading a team workshop, or partnering with an athletic department, my goal is always the same: to help young people become the best version of themselves and leave every athlete stronger than I found them.

Talent is rarely the limiting factor. More often, athletes struggle with confidence after mistakes, become distracted by pressure, or allow adversity to change how they compete.

I would help athletes develop resilient confidence, stronger self-awareness, and practical mental skills they can use every day. My approach is intentionally simple, giving athletes a common language and practical tools to respond to setbacks, stay focused on what they can control, and compete with greater confidence and consistency.

A training session with me is different from what most athletes expect. It's not about sitting through a presentation or hearing another motivational speech. Every session is built around a challenge athletes are already facing—losing confidence after mistakes, overthinking, handling pressure, or staying consistent when things get hard.

Athletes are involved from the start. We ask questions, challenge assumptions, work through real situations, and practice simple tools they can use immediately. My goal is that every athlete leaves saying, "That makes sense. I can use that today."

My career has been built around one question: What separates people who reach their potential from those who don't?

For more than 20 years, I worked in the music industry, collaborating with world-class artists, executives, and creative professionals in one of the most competitive industries in the world. That experience gave me a firsthand understanding of the habits, mindset, resilience, and consistency required to perform at the highest level.

I am the author of Compete with Confidence, The Athlete's Guide to Leadership, and Age Is Your Edge, and co-author of Max Out Mindset for Parents. My work has supported athletes and programs that have won 14 national championships across the professional, collegiate, and high school/club levels, along with nearly 30 high school state championships.

I had two. Dr. Larry Widman, high-performance psychiatrist, and Commander Jack Riggins, Navy SEAL

I believe my greatest strength is connecting with young people. I challenge them to think differently, believe in themselves, and develop the confidence and resilience to become the best version of themselves—on the field, in the classroom, and throughout life.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.
