Athletic Background
Summary of Career and Accomplishments
I have 6 years of playing experience! I played one year on a collegiate level but left due to injury. My first year coaching, I found a massive passion and had a very successful season coaching 7/8 graders.
Who is the best coach you ever had and why?
Adam Woodward was the best coach I've ever had. Even though he was only my coach for 2 years, Coach Adam was the best and there is no question about it. Besides his knowledge of the sport, Adam was a very personable coach and had a relationship with a lot of players. I remember I was going through a hard time with lacrosse and he was the one to help me. Coach Adam's motivation is what got me through most of my junior and senior years of high school. He was the first person I told when I committed to play lacrosse in college. His support meant the most to me and he truly had one of the biggest impacts on my life. Coach Adam is the reason I see how important it is to have relationships with players. I hope one day I can be that coach for many other players!
What should athletes and parents know about you?
Lacrosse is my biggest passion! I'm a high energy and driven coach who will always listen to what players want and need out of me.
Coaching Background
Summary of Coaching Background
I have been coaching for only about 2 years. I am fairly new to the position but not the game! The first group of girls I coached was a 7/8 team that had never won a game, by the end of my first season with them their record was 8-1-1!
How can you help someone improve their game?
I like to ask the players what they want to improve on or learn so I can understand them better as a player. Being able to let the player know that I'm there for them and that I'm able to coach them on whatever they need is the biggest factor. Understanding what a player does well, what positions they fit, and how hard they are willing to play are the things I look at to improve the players. I look forward to also increasing their lacrosse IQ and helping them have a better understanding of the game and themselves.
What does a typical training session look like?
During a typical session, I would take the player through efficient warm-ups and cool-downs, along with some conditioning at the end or beginning of practice. For the actual lacrosse part of the session, we will focus on whichever position the player plays or wants to train for (attack, mid, defense). These sessions will be fun, but will also come with a lot of hard work.
