I help athletes build resilience and relentless mindsets for optimal performance

If you’re an athlete trying to separate yourself, the difference is no longer just skill, your mind is the deciding factor. I work with athletes who want a real edge in their performance. We build a relentless mindset, develop a return on resilience, and learn how to turn adversity into an advantage instead of a setback. You reach a place where you don’t spiral when adversity hits, you rise. You stay locked in when it matters most. You compete with clarity, confidence, and control no matter the moment. This is about one thing, building the mental tools to perform like the athlete you already know you can be, consistently, not occasionally.

About Me:

I am a former professional football player, professional speaker, and mental performance coach, but what I do now was shaped long before titles were ever attached to it.

I was born in Houston, Texas and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. I lost both of my parents by the age of 11. That kind of loss forces you to grow up fast. It forces responsibility, awareness, and resilience long before you ever understand what those words fully mean.

At 13, my 23 year old sister stepped in and became my guardian. She didn’t just provide a home, she provided stability, structure, and a foundation that helped shape the direction of my life. That experience taught me the value of support systems, accountability, and the power of someone choosing to step up when life gets heavy.

From there, I began to understand what it means to navigate life without comfort being guaranteed. Everything had to be earned. Everything required discipline, adaptability, and the ability to keep moving forward even when things were uncertain.

That mindset carried me into my athletic journey and later into a three year career in professional football across the NFL and CFL. Inside that environment, I experienced firsthand what it means to perform under pressure, compete at a high level, and fight for opportunity while managing the internal weight that comes with expectations, identity, and performance.

After my playing career, I transitioned into the mechanical engineering world as a project engineer. That chapter gave me a different perspective on leadership, structure, and execution in high responsibility environments where details matter and consistency is everything.

But through every stage, I kept noticing the same thing. The real battle was never just physical or technical. It was mental. It was how people respond to pressure, adversity, change, and identity shifts when life does not go as planned.

That realization is what ultimately led me into my current work as a mental performance coach and speaker. I now dedicate my life to helping athletes and individuals build resilience, strengthen mindset, and develop the internal tools needed to perform and live with clarity and consistency.

Everything I teach is rooted in lived experience. From early loss, to stepping into responsibility at a young age, to competing at the highest level of sport, to navigating life beyond it. That is what shaped me, and that is what shaped how I coach today.

How I can help you improve your game:

1. Build Mental Fortitude

We start by developing mental elasticity, the ability to absorb pressure without breaking. This is about becoming mentally durable. You stop folding under adversity and start holding your ground when things get uncomfortable.

Outcome: You become consistent under pressure. You don’t get shaken by mistakes, setbacks, or external noise. Your foundation becomes stable no matter the environment.

2. Develop Stealth Like Attitude Alignment

Your attitude has to become steady, controlled, and independent of emotion. It cannot rise and fall with performance or circumstance. We train your mindset to stay calm, grounded, and intentional regardless of what is happening around you.

Outcome: You gain emotional control and consistency. You stop reacting to moments and start responding with clarity. Your effort, focus, and body language become reliable, not emotional.

3. Build Mental Agility

This is your ability to adapt fast. Reset quickly. Re-engage without carrying the last moment into the next one. We build the understanding that problems come and go, but your focus must stay present and movable.

Outcome: You recover faster after mistakes, stay engaged longer, and maintain high performance across the entire game or competition. One moment no longer defines the next.

End Result:

You develop into a mentally complete athlete. One who is durable under pressure, steady in mindset, and agile in recovery. You don’t just perform when things are going well, you stay locked in when things aren’t.

What a typical training session looks like with me:

1. Mental Fortitude Check and Build

We identify where the athlete is mentally breaking down or tightening under pressure. This is where we build mental elasticity by unpacking recent experiences, pressure moments, and emotional responses.

Focus areas:

• How they handled adversity since last session

• Where they lost control mentally

• What triggered emotional or performance breakdowns

Coaching objective:

Strengthen mental durability so the athlete becomes more stable in high pressure environments.

2. Attitude Alignment Development

This is where we correct emotional dependency in performance. We work on building a steady internal state that is not dictated by success, failure, or external conditions.

Focus areas:

• Emotional spikes during performance

• Body language and internal dialogue under stress

• Identity based responses versus emotional reactions

Coaching objective:

Create a stealth like, controlled attitude that stays consistent regardless of circumstances.

3. Mental Agility Training

This is the reset and recovery system. We train the athlete to let moments go quickly and fully reengage in the present.

Focus areas:

• How long they stay stuck after mistakes

• Ability to reset between plays, reps, or moments

• Focus drift and attention recovery

Coaching objective:

Build the ability to adapt instantly, reset quickly, and stay fully present without carrying emotional residue.

Session Outcome:

Every session is designed to create immediate application and long term identity shift.

Athletes leave with:

• One clear mental focus for the week

• A specific tool or reset strategy to apply in competition

• Increased awareness of their internal patterns

• A growing ability to stay composed under pressure

• A stronger sense of control over their mental performance

Career summary and accomplishments:

Professional Athlete:

Speaker/Mental Performance Coach:

Im the founder and voice behind SB Impacts, a platform and speaking brand focused on motivation, personal development, and mindset transformation. Through this work, you have delivered talks, coaching, and development experiences aimed at helping athletes and individuals improve not just performance, but identity, discipline, and internal resilience.

Best coach I ever had:

Duane Hawthorne is the best coach I’ve ever had. He instilled self-belief well before I understood what it was. He helped build a level of transformative confidence in my speaking and coaching me with conviction. Communicating his belief in me and my abilities allowed me to see and believe in them as well. He played in the NFL at my same exact position and so I knew to follow his footsteps and I could make it too.

What athletes and parents should know about me:

At my core I am here to help you get what you want in life your desires, dreams, and aspirations but more importantly develop the individual tools you need to help you protect what you build.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.

  • Good Fit Guarantee — If your first lesson isn't the right fit, we'll move your lesson credit to a new coach. No hassle.

  • Easy rescheduling — Cancel or reschedule up to 4 hours before a lesson, no questions asked.

  • Coach no-shows — You'll be fully credited and we'll help you find a replacement.

AU was created by former college and pro athletes. We understand the benefits of training with a private coach. It develops discipline, boosts confidence, and provides an undeniable advantage - whether you are just learning the game or looking to earn a college scholarship. All AU coaches are required to pass a thorough onboarding process + background check, so you can trust you're training with the best.
