4+ yrs basketball experience | DII athlete | Skills & Fitness Trainer

Hello, My name is Royalty Washington. I’m a collegiate basketball athlete and trainer with 4+ years of experience. I played high school basketball with Houston Home School Athletics, the Houston Mavericks, and continued my playing career at the NCAA Division II level with Barton College. Outside of playing, I’ve gained experience helping athletes improve their basketball skills, including ball handling, shooting, finishing, footwork, defense, and overall basketball IQ. I also incorporate fitness and athletic performance training, focusing on conditioning, strength, speed, explosiveness, and Film breakdown. My goal is to help athletes become better, more confident, and more complete players both on and off the court as a future and current Woman and Man of God,

About me

I’m a passionate basketball player, trainer, and athlete developer with 4+ years of experience playing and working around the game. Basketball has been a major part of my life, and my experience as a player has given me a strong understanding of what it takes to develop physically, mentally, and fundamentally as an athlete.

I began my competitive basketball journey with Houston Home School Athletics, the Houston Mavericks, where I developed my foundation as a player and competed at the high school level. Through years of playing, training, and competing, I developed into a versatile guard with an emphasis on scoring, playmaking, ball handling, finishing, shooting, defense, and athleticism.

I continued my basketball career at the collegiate level with Barton College, competing within the NCAA Division II level. Playing at the college level gave me a deeper understanding of the preparation, discipline, conditioning, time commitment, and attention to detail required to compete at a higher level. It also helped me understand basketball from a more advanced perspective—not just as a player, but as someone who can help teach and develop other athletes.

Outside of my own playing career, I have experience helping athletes improve their basketball skills and physical performance. I enjoy working directly with players and helping them become more comfortable and confident with the fundamentals of the game. My skill-development approach can include ball handling, shooting, footwork, finishing, passing, defensive technique, change of pace, coordination, basketball IQ, and game-specific decision-making.

I also have a strong interest in the physical side of athletic development. I enjoy incorporating fitness and basketball-specific conditioning into training, including agility, speed, explosiveness, coordination, balance, endurance, and movement. I believe athletic development should complement basketball skill rather than exist separately from it. The goal is to help athletes become stronger, faster, more coordinated, and more efficient while translating those improvements directly onto the court.

One of the things I enjoy most about training is seeing an athlete improve over time. Whether a player is completely new to basketball, trying to make a school team, preparing for the next level, or simply looking to become better, I believe training should be tailored to the individual. Every athlete has different strengths, weaknesses, goals, confidence levels, and learning styles, so I focus on meeting players where they are and helping them progress from there.

My own experience as a player allows me to relate to athletes because I understand the work that goes into improving. I know what it feels like to struggle with a skill, make mistakes, compete against talented players, and continue working until something becomes natural. Because of that, I want my training environment to be challenging but encouraging. I believe athletes should be pushed outside their comfort zone while still feeling supported throughout the process.

I also place a strong emphasis on discipline, consistency, effort, and confidence. Talent can help an athlete get noticed, but consistent work is what creates long-term development. I want the athletes I work with to understand not only how to perform a drill, but why they are doing it and how it connects to actual basketball situations.

Ultimately, I want to use my experience as a competitive basketball player and trainer to help the next generation of athletes improve their game and reach their goals. Whether I’m working with an athlete on a basketball skill, helping them improve their conditioning, preparing them for competition, or simply helping them develop confidence, my goal is to make a meaningful impact on their development.

Basketball has given me opportunities to grow as an athlete and as a person, and I want to give that same positive experience back to other players. I’m continuing to grow as a player, trainer, and coach, and I’m excited about the opportunity to work with athletes who are willing to learn, work hard, and become the best version of themselves.

If you’re looking to become a better basketball player, improve your athletic ability, or simply feel more confident on the court, I’m here to help you.

With over 10 years of basketball experience, playing experience with the Houston Mavericks, and NCAA Division II experience at Barton College, I understand what it takes to develop as an athlete. I’ve been in your position as a player, and I know that getting better requires more than just showing up and doing drills. It takes consistency, confidence, discipline, and training that actually fits your game.

When you train with me, we’ll focus on you—your goals, your strengths, and the areas you need to improve.

I'm gonna help you become comfortable making plays, making mistakes, learning from them, and continuing to compete. I'll challenge you, but I'll also help you understand why we're doing something and how it will help you become better.

I want to help you become the athlete you know you can be.

We'll work on your skills, your athleticism, your confidence, and your understanding of the game. I'll push you to get outside your comfort zone while making sure you understand that improvement takes time and consistency.

You don't have to be the best player in the gym when you start.

You just have to be willing to work, learn, and improve.

If you're ready to take your game seriously, I'm ready to help you take that next step.

Every session is designed around you—your current skill level, your goals, and the areas of your game that need the most attention. I don't want you to simply complete drills; I want you to understand what you're working on and how it will translate into an actual game.

Each workout is built around your individual goals and focuses on developing the skills you need most. Sessions can include dynamic warm-ups, ball handling, shooting, finishing, footwork, passing, playmaking, defense, and creating separation. We’ll progress from fundamental drills into movement-based and game-speed exercises, making sure the skills you practice translate directly into real game situations.

We’ll also incorporate athletic performance into your workout through speed, agility, explosiveness, quickness, coordination, balance, reaction time, and basketball-specific conditioning. Sessions will finish with competitive, high-intensity drills such as shooting competitions, 1-on-1 situations, finishing challenges, or game-like scenarios. The goal is to challenge you physically and mentally while helping you become a more skilled, athletic, and confident player. Including building and strengthening your overall body for high athletic performance

Honestly Myself

As a trainer, my goal is to make sure your child gets more than just a workout. I want every athlete I work with to feel supported, challenged, respected, and encouraged while they develop their skills. My faith in God is an important part of who I am and how I approach life. I believe God has given me the ability and opportunity to play this game, and I want to use that opportunity to positively impact the athletes I work with.

My faith also shapes the values I bring into training: discipline, humility, patience, integrity, hard work, respect, and perseverance. I believe talent is a gift, but what you do with that gift matters. I want to teach athletes to work hard, stay humble, treat others with respect, and continue pushing forward even when things get difficult.

Because I have played basketball for over 10 years, competed with the Houston Mavericks, and experienced NCAA Division II basketball at Barton College, I understand the dedication and sacrifice required to develop as an athlete. I want to use what I've learned through my own journey to help the next generation avoid mistakes, build confidence, and understand that success takes consistent work.

Most importantly, I want parents to know that I care about their child's development as both an athlete and a person. I will challenge athletes while also encouraging them, and I want them to leave every session knowing they are capable of becoming better. My faith reminds me that my purpose is bigger than basketball, and I want the way I train and treat athletes to reflect that.

My goal is to help your child become a better player, better athlete, and better person—while creating an environment built on hard work, positivity, character, and faith.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.
