I have experience playing soccer at a very high level from age 10 up until today. Coaching has always been a passion of mine and I have years of experience coaching for MattPaul Sports and doing one-on-one, along with small group private coaching. Throughout my playing career, I have bounced back between center-mid, center-back, and forward position and I have a lot of knowledge, information, and workouts catered for every position on the field except for a goalkeeper. (That is not my expertise).

I was the captain on every team I have ever played for. I was two-year captain at Dickinson College of the Centennial Conference. I was two-year captain at Shipley, where I was awarded All-State my senior year and was the MainLine Athlete of the Week several times throughout my 4 years. For club, I played for Lower Merion, Montgomery United, FC Continental (All top teams in the state).
I have received some of the best coaching that you can living in the United States and I have experience playing at a high-level at the center-mid position, forward position, and center-back position. This makes me very versatile and I have an array of fun drills catered to the important skills of dribbling, passing, and shooting. Also, I know a ton of speed and agility drills if you would want that mixed in.
First of all, I would have to have a conversation with the kid and their parent about what it is they want to get out of these trainings and what they want to work on the most. Then, I like to ease into the training session. We would start off with a light warm-up where I would ask some questions and pick their brain a little bit as I think it's important to talk about the game in order to improve soccer IQ. Then we would ease into a casual passing sequence, working on control/ first touch and different methods of how to turn with the ball or how to open up the hips when receiving the ball. Another thing I really like to focus on in my training sessions is technique. For example, we will spend a bit of time on how to pass a ball/ how to shoot a ball, etc. It makes the game a lot easier when the technique is down.
I have helped out MattPaul Sports coaching both soccer and basketball since I was just 14 years old. I coached the U13 Springfield Travel Soccer Team this fall. I have done one-on-one and small group private coaching lessons for soccer all throughout college in the summers.
The best coach I ever had was my first coach when I joined Lower Merion Soccer Club. He was a former pro player from Venezuela and I still can remember tips and tricks that he would teach us. Him and I also had a very special relationship as he made me the captain of the team and really challenged me personally to step my game up and become a better dribbler and passer. He challenged us a lot but never crossed the line and I always admired how much respect we all had for him.
I'm a very well rounded person who has played a lot of soccer, basketball, Gaelic Football, and I have a lot to offer when it comes to soccer training, along with speed and agility if that is wanted. I'm a person who not only knows how to play the game of soccer well, but I can also train effectively. I am obsessed with the sport, have experience playing over in Ireland which has offered me a different perspective on the sport.

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.
Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!
We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.
Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.
Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.
The AU guarantee (refund policy) has you covered! If you determine the coach isn't a good fit after your first lesson, let us know within 24 hours and you're eligible for a refund. We will also be happy to recommend another coach - be sure to contact our support team.
