Get to know Rachel

Former Division 1 athlete focused on the mental and emotional skills of sport.

As a former Division 1 soccer player and having trained and competed in the sport of freediving, I understand the challenges and skills needed to compete at an elite level. I work with athletes and student athletes, ages 10+ and help them develop the mental and emotional skills needed to reach their performance goals. Focuses range from performance anxiety, confidence building, motivation, visualization, goal setting, and resilience to help the athlete reach their full potential in their sport. I have coached young adults in open ocean long distance swimming, soccer, scuba diving, freediving, and yoga.

About me

I grew up playing both basketball and soccer competitively. I played on the Olympic Development Level Team for soccer and AAU for basketball in addition to my travel club teams and high school 4A level teams. Much of my time as a kid and teen was engulfed in sports, training, and team activities. I loved it and it was a big part of what shaped me in who I am today. After completing my master's in Performance and Sports Psychology, I was able to reflect back on what helped me perform at an elite level. Much of what separates great players from average ones is the mental and emotional side of the sport.

After college I trained and competed in the sport of freediving. I was able to hit depths that I originally thought would not be possible thanks to the mental strength training I did. In one of my competitions I was able to get to 143 feet after months of training as well as exercises like visualization, mindfulness, using positive affirmations, and breathing techniques.

Today I work with student athletes and young adults on the mental and emotional side of sport performance.

I work with athletes to address anxieties, manage stress, build confidence, and incorporate tools and techniques that help their mind and emotions add to their performance.

We will do a one hour virtual session where we will discuss current blocks, anxieties, and stress, that the player is experiencing in both training and games. We will then focus on skills that will help the player overcome these obstacles and ultimately improve their performance. I provide exercises for students to focus on in between sessions that incorporates the work we are discussing in their sport.

Coached four travel soccer teams

Worked as a trainer for 8 years to focus on skill development for players.

The best coach I ever had was my high school basketball coach who pushed us both physically, emotionally, and mentally where we were able to take our team all the way to the 4A State Championship game. He empowered each individual while encouraging strong cohesiveness with the team. We were able to accomplish a lot more than people expected of us because he held us to a high standard of performance while also supporting each player on an emotional and mental level. This was one of my favorite teams I ever played on and I know his coaching style greatly contributed to our success and enjoyment of the game.

I have worked with athletes, both boys and girls, of all ages. I have also worked at several international schools. I am able to coach in both English and Spanish while also omitting an ethnocentric view when working with athletes from different cultural backgrounds. I would describe my coaching and teaching style as open, empathetic, personable, motivating, and adaptable to each person's needs and personality.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.

  • Good Fit Guarantee — If your first lesson isn't the right fit, we'll move your lesson credit to a new coach. No hassle.

AU was created by former college and pro athletes. We understand the benefits of training with a private coach. It develops discipline, boosts confidence, and provides an undeniable advantage - whether you are just learning the game or looking to earn a college scholarship. All AU coaches are required to pass a thorough onboarding process + background check, so you can trust you're training with the best.
