Athletic Background
Summary of Career and Accomplishments
Growing up I played soccer, basketball, and baseball through the end of high school. I played club soccer as well and went on to play collegiately at Trinity International University, captaining my team for the final 2 years of my career. I graduated with a degree in Exercise Science, and am a Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Nutrition Coach. Over the last 10 years, I've had the opportunity to help thousands of clients improve their health, fitness, nutrition, and sports performance. I have coached soccer privately for the FC United Club Academy in Chicago for 11-13 year old academies, as well as 1:1 for the club, and now coach 1:1 as well as am an Assistant Coach for the Des Moines Christian High School Boys Soccer Team.
Who is the best coach you ever had and why?
I played and was personally mentored by coach Patrick Gilliam when I played at Trinity International University. Coach Gilliam was elected to the NCCAA Hall of Fame during my sophomore year of college. He was already a legendary coach at the time, and I was blessed to meet with him weekly 1:1 during my time at TIU to learn from him both in regard to soccer and life in general. He created a fantastic culture of excellence, both as a player and as a man, and built a program that developed winning teams on the field and as husbands, fathers, sons, and friends. I cherish the time I had to learn from him.
What should athletes and parents know about you?
I go above and beyond to make sure every client is set up for success in all facets, not only in their fitness and sport training but in their nutrition, recovery, and general health. I am going to learn what a client's short and long term goals are, create a path to achieve those goals, and be there every step of the way to help the client carry out that plan, adjust it as needed, provide accountability and support needed for success, and see them achieve those goals.

Personal Training / Strength and Conditioning - 10 years
Nutrition Coaching - 8 years
Soccer Coaching - 10 years
How can you help someone improve their game?
I have multiple decades of experience as an athlete myself.
From the strength and conditioning side of things, I know what it takes to create the strength, speed, and fitness to perform at one's best, and I design sustainable programs to help clients get to that point. It takes a holistic approach to create the best version of you, which is why I focus on all facets that feed into creating that (even going as deep as training mindset / focus).
From the soccer side of things, mastering the fundamentals creates technically sound players who are able to consistently perform at a very high level. Repetition breeds consistency, and consistency breeds success, so a big part of my focus is on the fundamentals in training. I see where an athlete may be lacking when it comes to their execution of the fundamentals and we place more emphasis on developing in those areas as well. Every session aims to maximize the time we have to get as many high quality repetitions as possible.
What does a typical training session look like?
A Strength / Conditioning / Speed session would include:
-Warm Up
-Mobility
-Strength portion
-Speed work
-Conditioning
-Cool Down
-Review
The strength speed, and conditioning portions may change in order or inclusion based on the emphasis of the session.
A 1:1 Soccer Coaching Session would include:
-Warm Up
-Touches
-Skill Work (passing drills, shooting drills, defensive drills, movement drills, etc.)
-Game or fun finisher
There is a lot of variance in what a Soccer Coaching session can look like depending on the client's position, current skill level, age, etc.
