Although I've been playing pickleball for over 10 years, I have only become serious in 2024. I have medaled in every tournament I have played (except one!).
I offer a holistic approach to pickleball improvement, blending personalized, high-level instruction with a deep understanding of the psychology of training. By focusing on both the mental and physical aspects, I help players find the right state of mind to perform at their best. Off the court, I provide tailored exercise routines, such as plyometrics, that enhance strength, speed, and endurance. Combining these elements, I guide clients to refine their technique, boost their confidence, and ultimately outperform their peers on the court.
Of course, if your goal is JUST to outplay your local friend group, we can focus on that as well. :)
I minored in Psychology, and this carries over well with Pickleball instruction. Who are you? What are your goals? How do you like to be taught? We don't just jump on the court and start hitting balls. I need to know about you, you're learning style and what you want to get out of learning pickleball, long before we step onto a court.
If there was a "5 Love Languages of Pickleball," I would've written it.
Either fill out the questionnaire or we'll have a phone call. Again, what is best for you? Then we'll arrange a time and court near you (like Lifetime Fitness) or you can come to my court in The Colony.
We'll begin with a 5 to 10-minute warmup (which will be dependent upon your level of fitness, of course). The extremely customized workout will start immediately after.
For example: If you were a true beginner:
The first lesson would start with a brief introduction to the game—explaining the basic rules, the court layout, and key terminology, so you feel comfortable with the essentials.
From there, we'd focus on the fundamentals, such as:
-Grip and Stance: I'd show the proper way(s) to hold the paddle and position your body for maximum control and comfort.
-Basic Shots: We'd work on hitting simple dinking and forehand strokes, emphasizing form and technique. The goal is to build consistency and confidence with the ball.
-Footwork and Positioning: Moving correctly is so crucial in this game. I'd demonstrate basic footwork drills to help you navigate the court smoothly and set up for shots.
Throughout the session, I’d introduce you to the psychology of training—helping you stay relaxed, engaged, and in the right mindset to learn effectively.
Finally, I’d recommend simple off-the-court exercises, like plyometrics, to build coordination and agility that will enhance your game over time. Whether you choose to do these or not, is totally up to you, and definitely not mandatory.
Before stepping into pickleball coaching, I was a dedicated personal trainer with a passion for fitness. I believe that true success on the court starts with strength off the court. Plyometrics and other targeted exercises are just as important as perfecting your dinking. If you want to surpass your friends and truly excel, commit to the exercises I prescribe three times a week (at home). Not only will your body transform, but you’ll notice a remarkable difference in your performance and endurance on the court. With the right blend of on- and off-court training, you'll leave your friends in awe!
I played soccer on the same team with the same coach from when I was 4 until I was 13. There's nothing inspirational here, but we were so good, having to play kids in older age brackets and still winning tournaments all over Texas. I JUST quit playing soccer last year to devote myself to pickleball full-time.
Coaching in groups is a joke unless you're an absolute beginner. I only coach privately because the value you receive from one-on-one or even one-on-two is exponentially greater, both in skill and for having fun. Ben Johns, one of the best players of all time said, "The best coaches are great players." I don't just love pickleball. I live it. I play almost every single day.

Meet your coach in-person or virtually, and start chasing down your goals!
If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.
Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.
Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!
We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.
Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.
Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.
The AU guarantee (refund policy) has you covered! If you determine the coach isn't a good fit after your first lesson, let us know within 24 hours and you're eligible for a refund. We will also be happy to recommend another coach - be sure to contact our support team.
Our coaches are open to helping athletes of any age and skill level. Please message your desired coach to ensure their skillset fits your needs.
AU was created by former collegiate and professional athletes. We understand the benefits of training with a private coach. It develops discipline, boosts confidence, and provides an undeniable advantage - whether you are just learning the game or looking to earn a college scholarship. All AU coaches are required to pass a thorough onboarding process and we proudly showcase a 10% acceptance rate, so you can trust you're training with the best.
At the end of the day, our mission is to provide athletes with better opportunities to succeed through coaching. You won't find a platform, and group of dedicated specialists, more excited to help you achieve your athletic goals!
