D1 high school goalkeeper in Colombia, trained at Duke and Rice camps.
I've spent my life between the posts — a D1 goalkeeper in Colombia's high school league, training with Canada's Nova Scotia Selects, and learning from elite coaches at Duke and Rice. Now I bring that same training to young goalkeepers in NYC, turning fundamentals into instinct while keeping every session fun.
I focus on making goalkeeping fundamentals. Footwork, hand positioning, shot-stopping, distribution, and game-reading, into instinct, not just knowledge. Whether you're just learning the position or refining a specific weakness, I break skills down into their component parts, drill them until they're automatic, then test them in game-realistic scenarios so what you practice actually holds up under real match pressure.
Every session opens with a 10–15 minute warm-up focused on footwork and ball-handling — quick feet drills, catching technique, and basic ball familiarity to get sharp before the harder work starts. From there, we move into technical work on whatever the player needs most: diving technique and shot-stopping angles, positioning and shot-stopping, ball distribution and use of the feet, or reading the game and organizing the defense in front of you. I break each skill down into its component parts first, then rebuild it into full-speed reps so the mechanics actually hold up under pressure. The second half of the session shifts into game-realistic scenarios — 1v1s, breakaways, crosses into the box — so what's practiced in isolation gets tested the way it actually shows up in a match. Every plan is adjusted to the player's age, current skill level, and conditioning goals.
I coached elementary and middle school goalkeepers for two years during undergrad in Long Beach, working directly with young players on foundational technique. As a player, I competed in Colombia's D1 high school soccer league, then played two years with the Cape Breton (Nova Scotia) Selects team in Canada, and trained at elite camps at Duke University and Rice University plus one-on-one with high-level personal coaches. I currently play goalkeeper for Parsons' varsity competitive club team in NYC.
I had a coach at Rice University, in Houston, whose impact stuck with me. He's the one who brought real grit into my goalkeeping and gave me genuine confidence in 1v1 situations — not just technique, but the mentality to actually win those moments. What made him different was how he explained the "why" behind everything, not just the "how." He gave me personal tips on reading a player as they came at me — their body angle, their touch, the small tells before they made their move — that I still use today. That's the kind of coaching I try to bring to my own players: not just drills, but the thinking behind them.
I take goalkeeping seriously, but I never lose sight of the fact that it should be fun — kids improve faster and stick with the position longer when they're actually enjoying training, not just running drills. I'm patient, adjust my coaching style to each player's age and level, and I'm just as invested in building confidence as I am in building technique. Parents can expect clear communication and a coach who genuinely cares about their kid's development, not just the session itself.
