Get to know Coach Luis

About Me:

As a youth athlete, I played soccer, football, and baseball. I was very accomplished with soccer when traveling club teams started in Northern California in the early 2000s.

I grew away from baseball and committed my time to traveling for soccer any time outside of football season through high school.

How I can help you improve your game:

Developing tailored plans based on an athlete's developmental stage is key. Drawing on extensive research and practical experience in Long-Term Athletic Development (LTAD), I’ve successfully enhanced performance for youth athletes across various sports.

What a typical training session looks like with me:

Training with me is fun. There will always be an element of competition in a session to organically apply what is worked on with drills and other training methods.

The structure of a typical session can look like Warmup (general & specific), Plyometrics & Movement Skills or Sport Skills, Strength & Power, and Conditioning. The structure of a session and length of session components will be modified to support the athlete's abilities and goals.

Career summary and accomplishments:

I began coaching to honor the mentors who profoundly shaped my development as an athlete and individual. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology/Exercise Physiology, I launched my career by designing exercise programs in physical therapy and orthopedic clinics while also serving as an assistant football coach at my high school alma mater. In 2019, I joined EXOS, a premier human performance company dedicated to preparing athletes for their most critical moments. Through dedication and hard work, I advanced to become the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at UCLA Health Sports Performance powered by EXOS. This role has allowed me to work with diverse groups, including youth athletes, military personnel, first responders, collegiate athletes, professionals, and Olympians. My varied experience equips me to enhance physical performance and mindset across all athletic levels.

Best coach I ever had:

One of my football coaches in high school Dom DiMare. This is the only person in my life who I was able to be coached by and then coach alongside later.

He is the best simply because of his ability to be open to change. Having an open mind and adapting new methods over time is a key quality for those who have great impact during their time coaching.

I'm a Northern California guy who loves sports, helping others, and having fun. With experience in everything from injury recovery to elite performance, I guide athletes at any stage of their training journey.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.

The AU guarantee (refund policy) has you covered! If you determine the coach isn't a good fit after your first lesson, let us know within 24 hours and you're eligible for a refund. We will also be happy to recommend another coach - be sure to contact our support team.
