You'll be having so much fun, you won't want to leave the court.
When you're having fun, you want to work harder, play more. When you start playing more, you can feel yourself getting better. When you can feel yourself getting better, you start having EVEN MORE fun. It's a cycle that grows stronger with each rotation.
I believe kids will only get better at something if they like doing it. My main goal is to help them enjoy being at practice and encourage them to develop the intrinsic motivation necessary to keep getting better on their own.
I specialize in supporting beginner teenaged tennis players. My methodology emphasizes the importance of generating consistency by finding a replicable motion. I then work to add pace and power through full-body movement.
As a young coach, I'm not too far removed from the experience of high school tennis myself. I understand the anxieties and frustrations that accompany a sport like tennis, where mistakes are frequent and the margin of error is relatively minuscule. As such, I understand the importance of positive reinforcement and patience. I guarantee your kid will have a positive experience with me as their coach.
Drills are based on experience level and skill and focus primarily on repetition. The goal is to understand the importance of free-flowing, kinetic energy, which can help a student understand why shots are hit the way they are.
I like to lead my lessons with a student-led approach: you tell me what you need the most help with, and we'll start from there. You'll be playing a lot. There won't be a ton of watching.
After graduating high school as valedictorian, I attended the University of Washington for my undergraduate education. After college, I worked for the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association as a communications professional for over three years, before leaving to pursue my passion in journalism. This past winter and spring, I worked as a communications specialist with the UW Center for Leadership in Athletics, helping develop curriculum for healthy youth development in coaching.
I've spent the past two autumns coaching tennis at my alma mater, Arlington High School, working hard to develop a program that inspires kids to work hard to get better because they genuinely enjoy playing and derive legitimate gratification through tangible improvement. I'm competitive, patient, athletic, and hard-working. I believe wholeheartedly in the importance of modeling positive behavior, as well as the necessity of fun in competition.
The best coach I ever had was my middle school wrestling coach. He had a way of helping us understand WHY we would perform certain moves the way they should be performed, as opposed to emphasizing rote memorization. I think this is important to help guide students and athletes towards natural, anticipatory movement, allowing them to rely on their instincts while remaining technically sound.
I'm incredibly positive. I believe in the importance of modeling positive behavior. I believe EVERY kid has the ability to become a great player, regardless of athletic background or initial skillset. They just need hours on the court, which requires a healthy love of the game.

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.
Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.
Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!
We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.
Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.
Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.
Good Fit Guarantee — If your first lesson isn't the right fit, we'll move your lesson credit to a new coach. No hassle.
