Athletic Background
Summary of Career and Accomplishments
I played 4 years varsity high school basketball at Masterman in center city Philadelphia. I made the all public team 3 out of those 4 years in high school. Played against multiple professional players in high school and held my own. After that played two years junior college basketball. Made our conference all star team my second year. Helped our team to two championships while I was there. Unfortunately we lost both. Now my passion is to give back through coaching the sport I love.
Who is the best coach you ever had and why?
My best coach was Coach Hawk from my Philly Hoops AAU basketball team. He never sugar coated anything. He told you the truth and what you needed to get better. Was never easy on us. He held us to a standard which in turn helped me hold myself to a standard. He was a mentor not only a coach to me.
What should athletes and parents know about you?
I am very transparent yet empathic. Honesty is truly important to me and the only way to reach your full potential. Honesty with a helping hand. I do this to help kids see their own potential and to feel more confident. That will remain to be my main focus.
Coaching Background
Summary of Coaching Background
Have been coaching basketball since I was a teenager. After my playing days I always watched and studied basketball. In 2014 I began to do private training sessions which turned into me coaching my own AAU team. Since then I have been an active coach, coaching at multiple levels. AAU, Middle school, high school and the college levels. I am currently middle school head coach at Penn Charter, and a head trainer/coach for Next Play basketball.
How can you help someone improve their game?
I can help in multiple ways. The main way is physically, through reputation and consistent practice. The other way is mentally. Sports are about the decisions you can make and that takes building your mental skill set in the sport. Whether understanding help defenses or how to properly use a ball screen. Helping both mentally and physically is how I can help.
What does a typical training session look like?
It varies based on what you would like to work on and what I think you should work on. However my usual plan looks like this: 5 minute Ball handled and footwork warm up. 10 minutes of shooting. 10 minutes of skill work. 10 minutes on concepts. 10 minutes on basketball conditioning.
