Get to know Coach Maxwell

About Me:

I've played football and baseball my whole life, focusing on football in college after being recruited. In high school, I earned first-team defensive player of the year twice and played a part in my team winning the local National Select 7-on-7 tournaments, going on to make and compete with the best teams in the country at the nations tournament. Before and during high school, I trained with Brandon Phillips (former Reds second baseman) and his father, who aided in my success and helped develop my baseball talent. During baseball I was known for my infield plays, strong hitting, and consistent contact at the plat

How I can help you improve your game:

My goal is to help every athlete play and feel like their best self. I start by focusing on what you feel needs improvement, whether it’s speed, strength, or specific skills for your sport. We’ll use drills and exercises that would mimic the gameplay of the sport. I’ll also look at things like mobility and movement patterns—because being able to move like an athlete is the foundation for playing like one.

Progress takes consistency, so I’ll make sure every session is planned to help you get a little better every week. You will get assignments and drills to practice outside of training, so you keep moving forward even when we don't see each other. Everything we do is tailored to you—your sport, your position, and your goals.

We won’t just focus on short-term improvements. I’ll help you build toward long-term success by emphasizing injury prevention, mobility, and a strong mindset. The goal is to help you reach your full potential while keeping the journey fun and rewarding

What a typical training session looks like with me:

A typical strength and athletic session with me starts with a dynamic warm-up, focusing on mobility, activation drills, and dynamic stretches to prepare the body for movement. From there, we dive into skill development, working on sport-specific drills that target footwork, mechanics, and explosive movements. With the athletic training sessions we build up to the position specific work by breaking up those movements and work on them individually so that when we put them together it looks flawless. For the strength/explosive training the session includes a combination of bands, strength training, and exercises that engage all planes of motion while incorporating stability work. This ensures a well-rounded approach that builds power, strength, and athleticism. To wrap things up, we’ll cool down with stretches or recovery techniques to help the body recover and prevent injury.

Career summary and accomplishments:

I’ve been coaching athletes for the past 1.5 years, working with late elementary kids (ages 7–11) up to high school athletes. My training experience spans 2.5 years, focusing on strength and conditioning, speed and agility, plyometrics, and sport-specific performance. I’ve also had the opportunity to work with teams like the Georgia Jackets Softball, leading speed and strength sessions to help players improve their game. My approach balances hard work and fun—I want athletes to enjoy the process while understanding the dedication required to achieve their goals. During sessions, we can joke and keep things enjoyable, but when it’s time to train, we get after it. My goal is always to help athletes build confidence, develop skills, and find a deeper love for their sport.

Best coach I ever had:

I’ve been fortunate to have two coaches who truly shaped who I am. When I was younger, my baseball coach showed us that hard work and fun could coexist. He pushed us to our limits while making the game enjoyable, teaching us discipline and resilience through a mix of tough love and humor. On the other hand, my former football coach back in the day taught me that success doesn’t come easy. He drilled into me the idea that there will be hard times, but those challenges are what builds strength and character. These coaches left a lasting impact on my life and my approach to working with athletes today.

What athletes and parents should know about me:

I’m here to help athletes unlock their full potential. Growing up in sports, I learned the value of hard work, resilience, and embracing challenges. I believe in pushing limits while keeping training engaging and meaningful. Whether your goal is to build speed, strength, explosiveness, or elevate your game to the next level, I’ll meet you where you are and help you get to where you want to be.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.

The AU guarantee (refund policy) has you covered! If you determine the coach isn't a good fit after your first lesson, let us know within 24 hours and you're eligible for a refund. We will also be happy to recommend another coach - be sure to contact our support team.

Our coaches are open to helping athletes of any age and skill level. Please message your desired coach to ensure their skillset fits your needs.

AU was created by former collegiate and professional athletes. We understand the benefits of training with a private coach. It develops discipline, boosts confidence, and provides an undeniable advantage - whether you are just learning the game or looking to earn a college scholarship. All AU coaches are required to pass a thorough onboarding process and we proudly showcase a 10% acceptance rate, so you can trust you're training with the best.

At the end of the day, our mission is to provide athletes with better opportunities to succeed through coaching. You won't find a platform, and group of dedicated specialists, more excited to help you achieve your athletic goals!
