I help athletes become confident, skilled, and consistent performers who trust themselves when it matters most. Over the past 20+ years as a Head College Basketball Coach, College Scout, and College Recruiting Coach, I’ve coached and developed thousands of young men and women who have gone on to play at the college level and beyond. My approach goes deeper than reps and drills. We focus on footwork, decision-making, and game understanding—while building the confidence and mental toughness that separates players who hope from players who produce. Everything we do is built around ownership. When athletes learn to trust their preparation, they stop relying on luck and start creating real, repeatable success on the court. Whether you’re just getting started or pushing toward the next level, I’ll help you become a player who performs with purpose, confidence, and consistency. I am also the auther of the books: Significant Recruiting: The Playbook for Prospective College Athletes and the Basketball Recruit's Journal, and I host the nationally recognized The Significant Coaching Podcast where I interview sports leaders every week and sharing their years of wisdom with our audience.

I’ve been married for 28 years and am a proud dad to a 16-year-old daughter and 13-year-old son. We call Castle Rock, Colorado home, and when I’m not in the gym, you’ll find me golfing, playing tennis, hiking, reading, or enjoying a great movie with my family.
I’ll help you improve by building your skills and your mindset at the same time—so you can trust your preparation and stop leaving your performance to chance.
For those who want to work on their on-court game, we’ll focus on what actually translates—footwork, decision-making, and quick, repeatable shooting fundamentals: feet set early, hands ready, and the same shot every time.
And for those who want to improve their mental approach and mental strength, we’ll build confidence, consistency, and the ability to trust yourself when it matters most.
The goal is simple: build a game—and a mindset—you can rely on.
For on-court training, sessions typically run 30–60 minutes depending on age and ability level. We focus on learning how to play the game—smart, quick, and consistent—so you become the type of player coaches trust and keep on the floor.
I want players to understand the game at a high level on both ends, so everything we do is built into game-like conditions and pace. We don’t just work on skills—we train them at the speed and decision-making level that separates you from your peers and competition.
For off-the-court (mental performance) sessions, we also work in 30–60 minute blocks. Every athlete is different, so I take time to understand how you think, how you learn, and how you want to be coached.
From there, we focus on building tools that help you perform consistently—things like patience, listening, executive function, breathing techniques, and visualization—while also helping you adapt to coaches and environments that may not naturally fit your learning style.
The goal in both settings is the same:
to help you become a confident, consistent player who can trust their game in any situation.
12 years as an NCAA D3 & D2 Head Basketball Coach; 20+ years HS/college coaching. State champion, multiple NCAA tournament appearances, 2x Coach of the Year, 2x NABC honoree, Hall of Fame inductee. Mentored 4,000+ recruits. Author & podcast host.
I’ve been fortunate to learn from some great coaches—and a few who taught me what not to do. But the biggest influence on my journey came from home. My dad and two older brothers shared their knowledge, competitiveness, and love of sports with me, and that foundation shaped both my playing and coaching career.
As a coach, I was incredibly fortunate to be mentored by the late, great Jerry Petitgoue—widely considered the greatest basketball coach in Wisconsin history. A Hall of Fame coach with over 1,000 wins, a 3-time state champion, and the 2020 National High School Coach of the Year, Coach Petitgoue was more than a legend—he was a trusted friend and confidant who had a lasting impact on my life and career. I miss him every day!
I love coaching and teaching. As a former high school and college point guard, I was never focused on scoring—I took pride in creating opportunities for my teammates, playing intense defense, and being their biggest supporter.
That’s how I coach. I care about helping you grow, compete, and build confidence in your game. I’ll challenge you, teach you, and hold you accountable—but I’ll also be your biggest cheerleader every step of the way.

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.
Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.
Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!
We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.
Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.
Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.
Good Fit Guarantee — If your first lesson isn't the right fit, we'll move your lesson credit to a new coach. No hassle.
