Developing better players and people

When I train an athlete, I devote 100% of myself to their success. I do a lot of thinking and learning by watching other coaches outside of lessons, to get ideas on drills, and advice to give. As a coach I believe that I am also always learning and that is how I become successful with my athletes.

About Me:

Hi there! My name is Coach Eve, I played volleyball for a total of 5 years and have been officially coaching for 2 with some training before hand. When I played I was on all different kinds of teams, including C team, A Team, Freshman team and Varsity for my schools and then when I played club I played on Axiom’s 15-1, NPJ’s 15 national and then NPJ’s 18 premier for my final season!

I was very active in the recruiting process and got various offers ranging from Ju-Co to D1 for setting and passing and I love seeing other athletes work towards that goal! Ultimately I chose to pursue a degree in Biomedical Science and coach volleyball instead of playing at the next level.

As a coach I value not only pushing my athletes and helping them work towards being better players but also being better humans. My absolute favorite part of coaching is watching how my athletes change as humans along my seasons with them!

How I can help you improve your game:

I can help you improve your skills by:

- lots of reps and making small corrections during reps, building up to a better form step by step

- lots of technical advice and a lot of game like perspective

- teaching how to identify a mistake and how to fix it mentally and physically on your own

What a typical training session looks like with me:

A typical training session will always start with a sufficient warm up. Then I ask the athlete what it is they would like to work on, asking follow up questions to get specific and then setting goals for the lesson.

The rest of the lesson will be drills, and explaining what the work on and how that skill would be useful out in a game.

Career summary and accomplishments:

I started out coaching by helping my mom with her teams when I was 15. It was through that, and playing for NPJ that I was able to get the opportunity to coach at the 13’s level for NPJ’s Portland branch at 17 and continuing at 18.

I have coached along side other coaches at the 13’s level for 2 years now and have experience coaching 14’s - 18’s through various opportunities during my last 2 years of coaching.

Best coach I ever had:

The best coach I ever had was not a coach that I played for but a college coach that was watching me at a showcase. She was the head coach for the University of Arizona at the time, and when I had come over to complete her drill, she made me do it over again. She was also yelling at me a lot, it made me think that she didn’t like me very much but when I completed her drill, she called me over and asked me what my name was and what position I played. I told her and she told me that she loved my attitude, and that I was exactly the kind of athlete she was looking for during these showcases. I asked her what exactly caught her eye, and she told me that even though I was facing pressure, I was still cheering on my other “teammates” and that even though she was yelling at me, I was still taking her coaching and asking questions so that I could meet her expectations.

As an athlete, she brought a lot of confidence into my game and encouraged me to keep being a kind person. I did not have the best team experiences before, and even after my interaction with her, but I knew that if I continued to grow as a person and a player, that I would be able to reach my goal to play college.

What athletes and parents should know about me:

As a young coach, a lot of people are hesitant to invest in my coaching. However, my connection to the volleyball world runs deep, I am a 3rd generation, player, setter, and coach. So I am the product of 2 previous generations of knowledge as well as my own. And I believe being young allows me to connect better with my athletes and explain things in a way they understand with less trouble.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.
