Hard work beats talent, so let's cultivate both.
Hi everyone! My name is Juliana but my former teammates and coaches call me J. My coaching style is founded on giving you, and expecting from you, 100% effort everyday and sharing my knowledge to deepen your understanding of the game. When we understand the "why" behind the "what", it becomes so much easier to implement coaching points and see improvement on the field. I value active listening and mutual respect and will always put the health, happiness, and experience of my athletes above all else. My expectations are that athletes arrive with all necessary equipment (stick, goggles, mouthguard, and cleats) 5-10 minutes early, when possible, to stretch and warm up accordingly. I also expect athletes to bring an open-mind and desire to get better, understanding that the journey will always bring obstacles and setbacks, but 1% each day brings us closer to your goal.
I can and will help improve overall agility and defensive footwork, 1v1 defense in the 8-meter, low crease defense, overall stickwork, defending and attacking the dodge, and draw circle work. I also have experience as a midfielder from when I started playing until the end of high school. With this experience, I can also coach deceptive dodging, cutting to shoot, reading the defense, and two-man game.
A typical training session with me involves a stickwork warmup for 5-10 minutes, focusing on dialing in our sticks before the core drills. As I and many of my coaches have said, you can't step on the field if you can't catch and throw. Then, we will complete a combination of 3-5 drills, aiming to address your specific areas of need. Some staples and favorite defensive drills of mine include 1v1 boxes, crease defensive angles, slide/double team angles, and turnover to ground ball to clears. Offensively, we will work on dodging to space and re-dodging when needed, beating the defender on a cut, and reading the defense as I serve as your defender for all drills.
High School: Attended Fallston High School and started every game from Freshman until Senior Year. I was First-Team All County for Harford County my Junior-Senior years and Second-Team All county my Freshman Year, with Sophomore year voided due to Covid.
College: At Princeton, I played in the Ivy League Semi-Finals as a Freshman and Sophomore and moved into a consistent starter position for my Junior and Senior years on the defensive end. I specialized in crease defense and matched up against some of the best attackers in the country every week, including my own All-American attacking teammates everyday in practice. My leading stats included caused turnovers and ground balls, even notching an assist and a goal in my senior day game (throwing it back to my midfield days :).
The best coach I ever had was my club coach at Skywalkers Lacrosse Club. She was defensive focused, which was rarely the case for most other coaches I had experienced. She cared about the stats that were often forgotten if you weren't the leading offensive scorer like ground balls, caused turnovers, successful double teams and saves. She taught us why sliding certain ways reduced the shooting angle and when to send versus when to know your teammate was good and didn't need your help. She instilled that good 1v1 defense made everyone's job easier, but that having the back of the person next to you was the number 1 way to win championships. I carry her advice with me in my own gameplay and hope to pay it forward to the next generation.
Athletes and parents should know that, at the bottom line, I am a resource for you and your growth. I understand that everyone learns differently, has different skillsets, and comes from different experiences with the game. As the expert, it is my duty to tailor the training to you so that you can improve your game in the areas that you need and in the format that you learn from best. I will give my all each and every session to ensure this and remain open to feedback and suggestions for changes as you see fit.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!
We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.
Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.
Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.
