Developing athletes through plyometric training and functional movement patterns

Through functional movement patterns and proper plyometric techniques, we develop quantifiable improvements in speed, quickness, and jumping skills that directly translates onto the playing field. By working specifically to enhance the fascia and fast twitch muscles of the body, we can develop the overall functionality of the athlete so that performance on the field is at its peak capacity.

About Me:

As an athlete for most of my life, movement was always a major part of my everyday life. Whether it was walking, jumping, or sprinting, exercise was a way for me to not only strengthen my body, but also a way for me to release negative thoughts and gain confidence in my mind. Everything changed in my early thirties when I experienced a disc herniation that left me in excruciating pain. Months went by as I worked tirelessly at my job inside the operating room, but I felt like surgery was my only option to get the sciatic pain to dissipate from my body. Two months after undergoing a lumbar microdiscectomy, I re-herniated the same disc in my lower back. The pain was unbearable. My nervous system was complete shock. My body was breaking down and my mind was suffering. I knew my life would never be the same. If something was going to change, I knew that I needed to be the catalyst of the this transformation.

I had to adopt a new mindset and lifestyle in order to create a stronger, more functional body, that could adapt to the challenges that lie ahead of me. Although I was desperate for massive pain relief from the sciatic pain caused by the disc herniation, it would be through small, deliberate movements performed on a consistent basis that would lead me on this healing journey. What I discovered over the course of several months surprised me, however. When I decided to let go of trying to control every aspect of my life, and started falling in love with enjoying the process of showing up and putting forth the focused effort, mentally and physically, the best results I received were not external but internal: my body was slowly starting to heal itself and my mind became sharper. Over time, through intentional daily repetitions (exercise, proper eating, sleep routine), my brain began to see things more clearly, my self esteem and confidence started to grow, and the negative, depressive thoughts subsided as my body and mind simultaneously began to relax.

As I challenged myself to do hard things each day, my brain felt a sense of progress and my body simply felt good. Over the coming months, as I continued my daily exercise regimen, I could see how this physical routine was having a positive ripple affect in other areas of my life: my study habits started to yield improved results when it came to classroom grades, I was able to focus more clearly and was retaining information at a more efficient rate, and I was having amazing social experiences with my friends playing beach volleyball while also going out to bars and restaurants, not needing to consume alcohol in order to have an unforgettable night.

I grew up in the wonderful city of Philadelphia, and made my way to the west coast and landed in beautiful San Diego. As the fifth son in a household of six boys, I love spending time with family and friends, and owe much of my joy to the great people in my life. I love playing beach volleyball and swimming in the beautiful Pacific Ocean, two activities that help me feel grateful for being alive and free.

How I can help you improve your game:

Our focus is to develop the fascia and fast twitch muscles through functional movement patterns (isometric poses) and plyometric training techniques. In doing so, we can develop an athlete that is stronger, faster, and more agile.

What a typical training session looks like with me:

By using simple warm up routines with isometric holds, the body and the brain works simultaneously to gain balance and strength. From here, we work on jumping, bounding, and skipping drills, improving the fascia and fast twitch muscle fibers which will lead to higher levels of performance on the playing field.

Career summary and accomplishments:

Growing up, I played in almost every sport: soccer, baseball, basketball, football, volleyball, and swimming. Over the course of my career, my greatest strength was my capacity to run fast and jump high; these skills can be trained and developed over time with intentional practice and specific techniques.

Best coach I ever had:

My brother james is the best coach that I ever had. Why? He pushed me beyond what i thought was physically possible for my body which directly translated to higher levels of performance on the field.

What athletes and parents should know about me:

I love teaching people new skills. We gain so much when we open our minds to new skillsets and techniques that lead to a better version of ourselves.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.

  • Good Fit Guarantee — If your first lesson isn't the right fit, we'll move your lesson credit to a new coach. No hassle.
