I'm a former Division I outside hitter and four-time 6A State Champion who has spent the last decade pouring everything I learned as a player into developing the next generation of volleyball athletes. I competed at the University of South Alabama and Towson University, where I was a two-time First Team All-CAA selection, led my team with 459 kills in a single season, and ranked among the top 30 nationally in kills per set. Before college, I was a middle blocker at Huntsville High School, where I earned Elite Eight Most Valuable Player honors three straight years and was featured in Sports Illustrated after an 18-kill performance in the state championship match my senior season.
Since transitioning into coaching, I've worked with athletes at every level — from 14U club players just finding their footing to high school varsity competitors chasing postseason runs. I currently serve as Assistant Varsity Coach at The Walker School, where I've been part of leading the team to a Sweet Sixteen appearance and as an assistant with TK Volleyball Club's 15U Elite team. I've also coached at 575 Volleyball Club and Legacy Volleyball Club, always with the same approach: build the foundation right, develop the whole athlete, and create a culture worth competing for.
Whether you're working on a specific skill or trying to take your overall game to the next level, I meet you where you are and build from there. No experience needed! I help players build strong fundamentals. Here's what we have the option to focus on together:
Passing & serve receive — developing clean, consistent mechanics under pressure so you're a reliable weapon in the system
Attacking — footwork, approach timing, arm swing, and shot selection tailored to your position and body
Blocking — footwork, read timing, and positioning built from my experience as a middle blocker at the highest levels
Mental skills — positive self-talk, visualization, and pre-match routines that help you compete with confidence when it counts
Decision-making — reading the game in real time so you're not just reacting, but anticipating
I also focus heavily on identifying the specific gaps holding you back and building a development plan around those — not a generic workout, but something designed for you.
Every session has a purpose before we even step on the court. I come prepared with a plan, but I also pay close attention to what I'm seeing in real time and adjust accordingly.
We typically start with movement prep and footwork — the stuff that doesn't look glamorous but makes everything else work. From there, we move into skill-specific work based on your development focus, drilling mechanics in isolation before putting them into competitive reps. I give real-time feedback throughout, and I'm direct — I'll tell you exactly what I see and why it matters, not just whether something worked or didn't.
We close sessions with situational reps that simulate match pressure — because the goal is never just to look good in training. It's to be ready when it counts. I'll also often assign a short mental skills focus or reflection between sessions, because the mental game is just as trainable as the physical one.

The coach who shaped me most was Don Metil at Towson University. Coach Metil had a way of pushing you to a level you didn't know you were capable of, and he did it in an environment where you actually wanted to work harder. Under him I became a two-time First Team All-CAA selection, led the team with 459 kills in a single season, and ranked among the top 30 nationally in kills per set — but the stats were just the byproduct of what he built in that program. He understood the game at a deep level and had a way of translating that into coaching that actually clicked. He expected a lot, he prepared us well, and he made the game make sense in a way that has stayed with me ever since. Every time I step onto the court as a coach, I'm drawing on something I learned from him.
I am straightforward, invested, and I take player development personally. When you work with me, you're not getting a coach who runs through drills and calls it a day — you're getting someone who actually thinks about your game between sessions and shows up with a plan every single time.
For athletes: I will push you, I will be honest with you, and I will always explain the why behind what we're working on. I want you to understand the game, not just execute it. I also care about the mental side as much as the physical — we'll work on the stuff that happens in your head as much as the stuff that happens with your hands and feet.
For parents: I communicate clearly, I'm respectful of your athlete's time and yours, and I hold myself to the same standards I hold them to. I've worked with young athletes for over a decade, and I understand that this is more than just volleyball — it's about building confident, resilient young people. That's always the bigger goal.
