My career in soccer has been a distinguished journey, characterized by an unwavering commitment to the sport and exceptional abilities demonstrated at various levels. I began my soccer career with FC Delco, where we proudly secured the USYS National Championship.
At Wake Forest University, my skill and determination were recognized through numerous accolades. These included three-time selection for the ACC 1st Team, All-American honors, and the prestigious ACC Player of the Year award.
Transitioning to professional soccer, my journey took me across different countries and leagues. I have had the honor of playing for OFK Beograd, FC Pannseraikos, FC Gueugnon, AGF Aarhus, AL Ettifaq, and GSK Belchatow, demonstrating adaptability and resilience. Back in the United States, I had the opportunity to join the New England Revolution, where I further enhanced my legacy in the sport.
Additionally, I had the immense privilege of representing my country as part of the USA Men's National Soccer Team Athletic. Competing at the highest international level added another layer of distinction to my career in soccer.
Beyond my playing career, I am deeply committed to developing future talent and expanding my knowledge of the game. This led me to achieve both the USSF B and C Coaching Licenses. My commitment to continuous learning also led me to earn the FIFA Medical Diploma, demonstrating my dedication to promoting player health and safety.
As I reflect on my journey through youth, collegiate, professional, and national level soccer, I'm grateful for the diverse experiences and knowledge I've gained. These accomplishments equip me well for my future endeavors in soccer, be it in coaching, management, or player development.
Drawing on my experience as both a player and coach, I focus on developing all aspects of a player’s game:
Technical Skills: Establishing a solid base in passing, shooting, ball control, and dribbling, then building on it with more advanced techniques.
Tactical Understanding: Improving decision-making, positioning, and overall game awareness to integrate seamlessly into any team strategy.
Physical Conditioning: Increasing endurance, strength, agility, and speed through tailored training programs.
Mental Toughness: Cultivating resilience, focus, and the ability to handle pressure and setbacks.
Personalized Plans: Identifying strengths and weaknesses to create individualized training goals and adjustments, such as refining technique or exploring new positions.
Professional Insight: Sharing firsthand experience from university, club, and national-level play to guide players in navigating their soccer careers.
Progress takes time, patience, and a willingness to grow. My role is to provide clear guidance, support, and constructive feedback every step of the way.
For individual and small-group sessions, the approach is personalized, focused, and intensive. Each workout is tailored to the unique needs and positions of the player(s).
A typical session might look like this:
Warm-Up (10–15 minutes):
Begin with light jogging, dynamic stretching, and agility drills to prepare the body and mind for the session ahead.
Individual Skill Development (30 minutes):
Concentrate on the player’s specific technical needs—whether refining first touch, improving passing accuracy, enhancing shooting technique, or mastering position-specific skills.
Tactical Training (20–30 minutes):
Focus on decision-making, positional awareness, and tactical principles relevant to the player’s role. By understanding where and when to be effective, players improve their overall game intelligence.
Conditioning (15–20 minutes):
Target position-specific physical attributes. For example, wingers may work on sprinting and acceleration, defenders might focus on agility, and midfielders could emphasize endurance.
Scenario Drills & Small-Sided Games (20–30 minutes):
Integrate realistic, game-like situations to apply newly developed skills and tactics. This immediate, hands-on practice helps reinforce learning and adaptability under pressure.
Cool-Down (10 minutes):
Conclude with light jogging and static stretches to support recovery, reduce fatigue, and lower the risk of injury.
Individual Feedback & Discussion (10 minutes):
Review the day’s progress, address areas for continued improvement, and set future goals. This dialogue ensures players understand their development path and remain engaged in their growth.
My coaching journey has been a rewarding experience filled with diverse roles and continuous learning. Since 2018, I have been the Technical Director of Atlantic City FC, an adult amateur soccer team in the USASA league. In this position, I manage the technical aspects of the team's game, ensuring each player has the skillset required to excel. Simultaneously, I hold the role of Director of Coaching at WSV Elite Soccer, a position I've held since 2015. Here, I've had the opportunity to work with young, ambitious players, guiding them in their formative years of soccer development. With my focus on the U17 age group in the EDP league, I have nurtured many budding talents, preparing them for the challenges and opportunities of professional soccer. From 2016 to 2018, I took on a new challenge as the Team Head Coach for Central Bucks East High School in Buckingham, PA. Here, I worked with U15-U19 players, shaping their raw talents and fostering a team spirit that went beyond just the field. This role helped me understand the unique demands of coaching youth at different age levels. Prior to that, from 2010 to 2018, I served as the Team Head Coach for Lower Merion, a youth team under the US Youth Soccer banner. Focusing on the U17 age group in the EDP league, I helped players refine their techniques, improve their strategic understanding of the game, and grow in confidence. The experiences and insights gained from my own playing career greatly inform my coaching approach. Having played professionally for New England Revolution, GKS Belchatow, Al Ettifaq, and AGF Aarhus, I understand the pressures and expectations of the professional game. Representing the US Men's National Soccer Team was an honor that gave me a deep appreciation for the high standards required at an international level. Having transitioned from the field at Wake Forest University, where my soccer journey began, to professional teams in Europe and the US, and finally into coaching, I carry a unique blend of experience and perspective. This allows me to guide players not just from a technical and tactical standpoint, but also in navigating the broader journey of a soccer career.
Throughout my soccer journey, I have had the privilege of being coached by numerous talented individuals, but none have left as profound an impact as Jay Vidovich at Wake Forest University. Jay was more than a coach to me; he was a mentor, a guide, and a significant influence in shaping me as both a player and a person.
What set Jay apart was his comprehensive understanding of the game, coupled with his deep respect and passion for it. His approach to coaching was truly player-centric. He recognized the individual strengths of each player and worked tirelessly to hone those skills while also addressing areas for improvement. He nurtured us not only as individual players but also as a cohesive unit, fostering a sense of camaraderie and teamwork that was pivotal to our successes on the field.
Jay's focus was never solely on the technical and tactical aspects of the game. He believed in nurturing well-rounded athletes, emphasizing the importance of character, discipline, and mental toughness. His coaching philosophy was rooted in the belief that the values learned on the soccer field - resilience, teamwork, determination - are crucial life skills that extend far beyond the game.
Additionally, Jay's commitment to the development of his players was unrivaled. His dedication to the team was evident in the countless hours he spent analyzing games, strategizing for upcoming matches, and providing individualized feedback to help each player reach their full potential.
One of the things I respected most about Jay was his approachability. He was not only open to our feedback and suggestions, but he actively encouraged it. He created an environment where every voice mattered, fostering an atmosphere of mutual respect and open communication. He made it clear that he was not just our coach, but our advocate and supporter.
Overall, Jay Vidovich was more than just an outstanding soccer coach. He was a true leader who deeply cared for his players and prioritized our holistic development. He instilled in me a love for the game and taught me invaluable lessons that have stayed with me long after leaving the soccer field. His impact on my career and life has been immeasurable, and it's a privilege to have been coached by him.
As a coach and mentor, I want athletes and parents to know that my passion for soccer is rivaled only by my commitment to developing well-rounded, successful individuals. Leveraging my experience as a professional player and a nationally licensed coach, I understand the challenges and rewards of competitive soccer and I am uniquely positioned to guide athletes at all levels.
I believe in focusing not just on the physical aspects of the game, but also on the mental and emotional development of the players. My coaching philosophy is built around the concept that sports is a powerful tool to build character, instill discipline, and teach valuable life lessons such as teamwork, resilience, and determination.
Parents can trust that I prioritize the well-being of my athletes above all else. I understand the importance of maintaining open lines of communication and I am always accessible to discuss any concerns or queries they might have. My aim is to create a positive, supportive environment that encourages athletes to thrive both on and off the field.
For athletes, my promise is to help them realize their full potential. Drawing on my experiences playing at various levels, including for the U.S. Men's National Soccer Team and numerous professional clubs worldwide, I provide insight into the demands and opportunities of soccer at the highest level. I am committed to developing each player's technical skills, strategic understanding, and love for the game.
Lastly, I want athletes and parents to know that I approach my role as a coach with a deep sense of responsibility and commitment. I consider it a privilege to be part of an athlete's journey and I strive to make a positive impact that extends beyond the soccer field.
