Glad to be on Your Journey with You, Prioritizing Faith and Integrating Sports

I help athletes develop the mindset, confidence, and resilience to perform at their best. As a former Division II quarterback, coach, counselor, player development professional, and team chaplain, I take a whole-athlete approach by developing performance, leadership, character, and faith. I believe athletes are more than their sport, and my goal is to help them elevate their game while discovering their identity and purpose beyond it.

About me

I played Division II college football at Barton College as a quarterback, where I had the privilege of being named a team captain and earning the starting quarterback position as a freshman. That experience shaped my approach to leadership, accountability, preparation, and what it takes to perform under pressure.

I studied Counseling as an undergraduate, developing a strong foundation in understanding people, communication, mindset, and personal development. I then pursued my master’s degree at Campbell University, where I had the opportunity to coach while also working in Player Development and serving as a Team Chaplain.

I am currently the Associate Minister of Athletics at Gardner-Webb University. These experiences have given me a unique perspective on developing athletes—not just physically, but mentally and personally. I believe the best performance starts long before an athlete steps onto the playing surface. Through mental performance, relationship-building, and intentional preparation, I help players develop the confidence, focus, resilience, and mindset needed to elevate their game.

My goal is to help athletes elevate their game by developing not only their physical ability, but also their mindset, character, leadership, and faith. Drawing from my experience as a Division II quarterback and team captain, coach, counselor, player development professional, and team chaplain, I understand the challenges athletes face both on and off the field. I use mental performance strategies to help athletes build confidence, improve focus, manage pressure, overcome adversity, and prepare mentally long before they step onto the playing surface. At the same time, I help athletes understand that their identity and worth are not defined by their performance, statistics, or playing time. For athletes who desire faith-based development, I incorporate biblical principles to help them grow in their relationship with God, navigate the highs and lows of competition, and develop the character and purpose needed to succeed both in sports and in life.

A typical training session begins with a brief check-in to understand where the athlete is mentally, emotionally, and physically that day. From there, we establish a specific goal for the session and use mental performance techniques such as visualization, breathing, focus exercises, positive self-talk, and performance routines to prepare the athlete to compete with confidence and composure. We then connect those mental skills to sport-specific situations, challenging the athlete to respond to pressure, mistakes, adversity, and competition the way they want to respond on game day. Throughout the session, we emphasize leadership, discipline, accountability, and intentional decision-making. For athletes who desire faith-based development, we also incorporate Scripture, prayer, and biblical principles that help them understand their identity beyond sports and apply their faith to how they prepare, compete, lead, and handle adversity. Each session finishes with reflection, identifying what the athlete learned, what they can improve, and one practical mindset or faith-based action they can carry into their next practice, competition, and everyday life.

DII Starting Quarterback -- Barton College

DI Coach and Director of Player Development & Team Chaplain -- Campbell University

DI Athletics Minister -- Gardner-Webb University

The best coach I ever had was my high school coach. He taught me that being a great athlete was about more than what happened on the field, it was about becoming a great leader, teammate, and person. The leadership lessons he instilled in me are lessons I still carry with me today. More importantly, he helped me see that life is more than sports. Through his influence, I began to discover my identity in Christ and learned that my performance as an athlete did not determine my worth. That experience has shaped the way I coach today. I want to give athletes the same perspective that was given to me—to help them compete at a high level while understanding that their identity, purpose, and value extend far beyond the game.

Parents and athletes should know that I care about the person before the player. My goal is to create an environment where athletes feel challenged, supported, heard, and held accountable while developing the mental skills necessary to perform at their highest level. I also believe an athlete’s identity should never be defined solely by their performance, which is why faith and personal development are important parts of my approach for athletes and families who desire them. I want every athlete I work with to leave not only as a better competitor, but as a more confident, mentally prepared, grounded, and purposeful person.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.

  • Good Fit Guarantee — If your first lesson isn't the right fit, we'll move your lesson credit to a new coach. No hassle.
