Who is the best coach you ever had and why?
The best coach I've ever had was a strength coach at Boston College that did not care about who you were as a player (superstar or walk-on) as long as you came to the facility every day with the mindset to improve yourself. He would emphasize the importance of mental strength and weave ways to improve our mental toughness into our workouts every day. He gave everyone the opportunity to be the best and it motivated our team and created a positive culture for many years.
What should athletes and parents know about you?
Athletes and parents should know that my top priority is focusing on small improvements each day and stacking those in order to become a better overall athlete (mentally and physically). I like to have fun and never take things too seriously because I know from experience that athletes don't love when improvement feels like a chore.
Coaching Background
Summary of Coaching Background
In the past, I've done years of private field goal kicking lessons and I've volunteered at various kicking camps. Recently, I've helped coordinate and coach summer speed & agility programs in New Jersey.
How can you help someone improve their game?
Athletes and parents should know that I'm not only going to show up to each workout with a very positive, encouraging attitude but I'm also going to have a standard that pushes people to their limits when necessary. After years of being a part of a Division I program, I've had the privilege to work with many coaches with different coaching styles and the best ones adapt their styles to their athletes. That's what I'm ready to do. Everyone finds motivation differently. Finally, I'm constantly doing research to learn new exercises that specifically help my clients.
What does a typical training session look like?
My workouts are structured very simply:
- Warm up/dynamic stretching
- 75% effort exercises
- 100% effort exercises
- Fun/Competition workout
- Cool down/stretch
