Basketball is more than just a game to me—it’s my passion, the one thing that’s never faded, no matter where life has taken me. When people ask me what drives me, basketball is always the first thing that comes to mind. I’ve experienced the highs of the game, but I’ve also had a coach rip the desire to be on the court right out of me, and that’s something I refuse to let happen to anyone I know. I want to help athletes fall in love with the game all over again, not just as players, but as people who get to experience the joy, excitement, and beauty that basketball brings. Whether you’re looking to improve your skills or reignite the passion that once made you dream of the court, I’m here to help you get there. My goal isn’t just to make you a better player—it’s to personalize your training sessions to what you want to improve. I will watch your game film, attend games if possible, and study your skillset to be able to give you the kind of training you deserve.

Like mentioned above, I will devote personal time to understanding your skillset and pointing out areas of improvement. We will focus on those areas while building the fundamentals. Skills will naturally develop the more time spent with a ball in your hand.
A typical training session will start and end with stretching, we will do a warmup, form shooting, all while discussing areas of improvement the athlete wants to see in themselves. From there we will work on the basics of the area needing improvement. This will usually be something like ball handling under pressure, shot selection, finishing through contact, or accurate passing. Depending on the length of the session we might hit many areas of improvement. We will always include a competition of some sort to increase game-like experience. We will usually end with a difficult finisher drill with a specific goal in mind. We then will cool down and stretch.
Throughout my 11 years of competitive basketball I have coached many players whether in personal training settings, summer camp settings, or as an assistant coach during high school seasons. My dad jokes with me that I would enjoy being injured more than I should because it would give me an opportunity to coach which I loved almost as much if not more than playing.
Alycia Osterhout. She is so much more than a coach to me. She is kind of person I would want to speak at my wedding. I started playing for her when I was in 3rd grade and stayed until I graduated high school, 11 years. She instilled the love for the game in me as a kid but more importantly, she had faith in me and made that obvious. She would take time to understand my perspectives and give me room to make mistakes. When I messed up, she would ask if I knew what to do better before correcting my mistakes. She trusted my skills and when they fell short, she was there to help me improve them. I owe her more than I know how to give back.
Athletes and parents should know that I actually hate the culture of basketball trainers. Severely. They will charge you an arm and a leg to do the same unrealistic drills over and over. They have separated more and more from game-like scenarios and will add their own unclear dialogue and titles to moves or names to seem professional. I am a strong believer in improving the basics first then with experience will come the growth of the skillset.

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.
Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.
Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!
We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.
Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.
Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.
The AU guarantee (refund policy) has you covered! If you determine the coach isn't a good fit after your first lesson, let us know within 24 hours and you're eligible for a refund. We will also be happy to recommend another coach - be sure to contact our support team.
Our coaches are open to helping athletes of any age and skill level. Please message your desired coach to ensure their skillset fits your needs.
