Get to know Coach Eugenie

About Me:

I began playing tennis at the age of six, achieving a national junior ranking of #2 and a senior ranking of #3 in my home country in Africa. My competitive journey took me to ITF Junior tournaments across Africa where a highlight during my junior career was winning a gold medal in doubles and a silver medal in singles for representing my country in the African games and Europe, exposing me to high-level competition and diverse cultures. In the U.S., I contributed to a high school state championship victory in Tennessee and was ranked #3 in the state. At the collegiate level, I competed for a Division I university in Texas, earning Academic All-American and All-American First Team honors. As a professional player, I participated in Challengers and Futures tournaments ranging from $15K to $80K, achieving a world ranking of #1750.

How I can help you improve your game:

I help athletes improve their game by identifying their strengths and areas for development, tailoring my coaching to their individual needs. I focus on refining technical skills, enhancing mental toughness, and building tactical awareness. My goal is to instill confidence and empower players to achieve their full potential on the court and off the court. My players, kids (the ones I coach), and clients all know I rather have a good person than a great player without values and morals. Talent is not enough to make it in this industry. Always be humble and hungry to learn. Those are some of my philosophies which I've learned through experience and through guidance with the coaches I have been fortunate to work with and from where I come from.

What a typical training session looks like with me:

A typical training session includes a warm-up to prepare physically and mentally, followed by drills that target specific technical and tactical areas. Depending on the athlete’s goals, sessions may also include point play, conditioning, and mental preparation exercises. I ensure each session is engaging, goal-oriented, and aligned with the athlete’s development plan. This also depends on the level and needs of the player or student whether the client is an expert tennis player or a newcomer or a non-competitive player.

Career summary and accomplishments:

I have extensive experience coaching players of all ages, from five-year-olds to adults in their 50s and 60s, across various skill levels. My roles as Director of Tennis at AYTEF and at prestigious clubs like The Manor and White Columns have honed my skills in program development, coaching, and event management. I focus on creating an inclusive and supportive environment while fostering athletic and personal growth.

Best coach I ever had:

The best coaches I ever had was one who not only focused on refining my technical skills but also emphasized mental toughness and character development. They (from my beginner coach, to my Russian coach, to my french coach, chile coach, and working with Nick Bolletteri and other IMG coaches) taught me the importance of discipline, adaptability, and resilience, which have been invaluable both on and off the court. Their holistic approach inspired me to adopt similar principles in my own coaching philosophy.

What athletes and parents should know about me:

Athletes and parents should know that I am deeply passionate about fostering growth both on and off the court. I emphasize the importance of building character alongside athletic skills, helping players become great individuals first and great athletes second. With experience competing and coaching at the highest levels, I bring dedication, adaptability, and a personalized approach to every session.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.

The AU guarantee (refund policy) has you covered! If you determine the coach isn't a good fit after your first lesson, let us know within 24 hours and you're eligible for a refund. We will also be happy to recommend another coach - be sure to contact our support team.

Our coaches are open to helping athletes of any age and skill level. Please message your desired coach to ensure their skillset fits your needs.
