Hi! My name is Diego, and I am a Division 1 swimmer at Northwestern University. I started swimming competitively at the age of 5. I was an Olympic Trials qualifier at the age of 16 and competed in both the Team USA Olympic Trials in 2021 and 2024. As a club swimmer, I was a Junior National Champion and a member of the Team USA National Junior Team.
I have several years of coaching and mentorship experience working with all age ranges. I focus on helping swimmers reach their full potential by improving technique, building confidence, and developing strong habits both in and out of the water.
I also bring extensive experience in nutritional science and weightlifting, helping athletes improve performance, recovery, and overall development.

I can help you understand how to train outside the pool, fuel your body properly, and recover so you’re able to perform at your best consistently. My goal is to help you improve not just as a swimmer, but as an overall athlete.
Sessions are typically 60 minutes and are built around your specific goals and current level. We’ll usually start with a quick warm-up to get your body ready, then move into focused technique work, drills, and race-specific skills like starts, turns, and underwaters.
I give clear, direct feedback throughout so you know exactly what to adjust and how to improve. If needed, we can use video to break down your stroke and help you see what’s going on in real time.
Every session is structured but flexible, so we can adjust based on how you’re progressing. I also provide guidance on what to work on outside the water, including strength training, recovery, and goal setting, so you’re improving in every area, not just during the session.
I’m a Division 1 swimmer at Northwestern University where I have ranked highly in the Big Ten Conference and qualified for the NCAA Championships. I qualified for the Olympic Trials at age 16 and competed in both the Team USA Olympic Team Trials in 2021 and 2024. As a club swimmer, I was a Junior National Champion and a member of the Team USA Junior National Team.
Throughout the ages of 13–18, I consistently ranked in the top 3 in the country in many of my events. Alongside competing, I have several years of coaching experience, including one-on-one training and mentoring athletes in my sport.
The best club coach I ever had helped me find my passion for the sport and played a huge role in shaping who I am as an athlete and person today. He helped me develop the elite habits and discipline that I still carry with me.
He saw potential in me before I saw it in myself, and before anyone else did. That belief, combined with his attention to detail and consistency, pushed me to a higher level. That’s the same mindset I try to bring into my own coaching.
Athletes and parents should know that I’ve been through this process myself and understand what it takes to succeed at a high level. I’ve experienced the highs, lows, and setbacks that come with competitive swimming, and I know how to navigate them.

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.
Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.
Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!
We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.
Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.
Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.
