My goals as a coach are to help young athletes reach their highest levels of performance. Softball has been my life since I was 5 years old and believe it or not, I'm still learning new things to enhance my game every day. My softball journey began at age 7 and though I was not immediately the best at the sport, I loved it with all my heart as soon as I stepped onto the field. Throughout my career I learned many things through trail and error, partially through my own stubborness but mostly due to the lack of knowledge on how to improve as a player there was for me within my community. I truly began taking matters into my own hands when I reached High School and new opportunities to learn began to open up to me. I started to train on my own more often along with the every day practices that playing on my High School team offered. I was able to completely reinvent myself as an athlete while also keeping all of the things I was already good at. This reinvention is what allowed me to play in College at Anne Arundel Community College. While I played there I earned All-Region accolades all 3 years that I had the privelage to play. Now, I am basically a full-time coach on my younger sisters travel softball team as well as my younger brothers travel baseball team. It is an honor and a complete joy to be able to share my knowledge and experience with all of the young athletes that I get to coach. I always strive to give every athlete that I train with every tool they could possibly have to become the best that they can be.

Get to know Coach Courtney

About Me:

I attended Annapolis Area Christian School for High School and received Varsity Honors all 4 years and Captain Honors for my final 2 years. For College I attended Anne Arundel Community College and received All-Region accolades all 3 years that I attended. I also received All-Academic Honors for MD JUCO all 3 years as well. I currently play on a 23 and over team in a league that my parents and I had the privilege to help create.

How I can help you improve your game:

I love breaking things down and helping athletes understand their own mechanics so they can self-correct by themselves. There is always room to improve, but a real sign of a well disciplined and well trained athlete to me is someone who can make a mistake and understand exactly what they did wrong based on the results of the mistake. My goal is to help athletes get to this point so that when they are not in lessons with me or at their own practices, they can work at home and improve the correct way. A lot of this game is muscle memory and learned movements, which takes consistent repetition of the correct motions.

What a typical training session looks like with me:

I like to base my sessions around what the athlete needs the most. On a first lesson I like to get a baseline of where the athlete is at skills wise and then go from there on what drills and workouts would be the best for them. I have plenty of tools to utilize in a session for both fielding and hitting, so it is easier to work on specific things that the athlete needs. Once we have been through a couple of sessions, I want to know the athletes goals for themselves and what they want to personally get better at and from there we can create a routine to help achieve their goals.

Career summary and accomplishments:

I began coaching in 2021 on my younger sisters rec softball team as an Assistant Coach to my dad. We have gradually followed my sister up the ranks and now she is in 12U Travel Ball where I am still an Assistant Coach. In 2023 I began coaching my younger brothers rec baseball team as an Assistant Coach and have also gradually followed him up the ranks as he is now in 10U Travel Baseball. So I have been basically Full-Time coaching one team or another for about 4 years now. I give private lessons on the side mostly to my players who request time out of practice, but I have also worked with some outside players as well.

Best coach I ever had:

This might sound cheesy but the best coach I ever had was my dad. He was the coach that I had the longest as he coached me most of my travel career and still coached me from the sidelines throughout my High School and College career as well. He taught me my love for the sport and was always vital in making sure I carried myself in the correct way on and off the field.

What athletes and parents should know about me:

When I began coaching I had no idea how much I was going to love it. I have always lived and breathed softball, but just getting out of an almost full-time playing career I was not sure how well I was going to take to being on the other side of the fence. My younger sisters team was my first experience coaching and she was about 8 at the time, so I had no idea how well I was going to be able to handle younger kids or even how well they were going to handle me. It turns out that almost immediately I began to live and breathe coaching as much as I did when I was playing. Now, my sister is 12 and in travel ball and I have been coaching her ever since she started. I absolutely love coaching and helping young athletes become the best that they can be. I not only want to be able to coach them in their physical skills, but also in their mentality and how they carry themselves on and off the field. I'm sure everyone has heard the saying that softball is 90% mental and 10% physical and well, every athlete who has played the sport can attest to how true that saying is.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.

The AU guarantee (refund policy) has you covered! If you determine the coach isn't a good fit after your first lesson, let us know within 24 hours and you're eligible for a refund. We will also be happy to recommend another coach - be sure to contact our support team.

Our coaches are open to helping athletes of any age and skill level. Please message your desired coach to ensure their skillset fits your needs.

AU was created by former collegiate and professional athletes. We understand the benefits of training with a private coach. It develops discipline, boosts confidence, and provides an undeniable advantage - whether you are just learning the game or looking to earn a college scholarship. All AU coaches are required to pass a thorough onboarding process and we proudly showcase a 10% acceptance rate, so you can trust you're training with the best.

At the end of the day, our mission is to provide athletes with better opportunities to succeed through coaching. You won't find a platform, and group of dedicated specialists, more excited to help you achieve your athletic goals!
