Why Train With Me?

I played basketball through middle school and high school and learned most of my skills on my own time. I never had a mentor that could teach me about the game so I had to learn using YouTube and watching film on players at my level. Upon graduating high school I went back to my school to coach for 2 seasons until I was presented the opportunity to coach under former NBA star Monta Ellis at his academy in Coppell, TX and have since been training there. I am able to train anywhere you and your child feel comfortable at so feel free to ask!

Who is the best coach you ever had and why?
Joezon Darby; I’ve only known him a couple of months but he’s treated me with nothing but respect and love. He’s taken me under his wing and has shown me how to be a better coach and to hone my craft.
What should athletes and parents know about you?
Given I am only 22 I am relatively young and have the thought in mind of being the older brother figure to your child because I know better than most of what goes through a child’s head and what their needs are. I want to be the figure in their life that I wanted growing up not only getting them better on the court but also becoming better people outside of the sport.

How can you help someone improve their game?
I don’t look at someone just for the player they are but also their demeanor as a person. I identify their needs beforehand and focus on those to improve the most but without forgetting about honing their strengths as well.
What does a typical training session look like?
I always start with a little bit of cardio and stretching so we can get the blood flowing then move into stationary dribbling to get warmed up. Depending on what your child’s needs are we move into drills that I’ve used in the past that would help them work on their game. I love getting active while in training so I’ll be doing the drills as well to give the example of what should be expected in the drill for completion.
