About Me:

I began playing basketball at the age of 5 and continued all through my growing years and into high school on AAU teams that traveled all over the country. During that time I had the privilege of playing with and against players like Nolan Smith, Kevin Durant, Evan Mosely, Dino Gregory, and many others.

I then went on to play for Annapolis Area Christian School through high school and had multiple Division 1 scholarship offers in my junior year. That summer, I severely injured my shoulder in a surfing accident and required surgery. This of course was devastating for me as a teenager and completely changed the plan I had for my basketball career. Through all this, I was still able to rehab my shoulder and received a full ride scholarship to play basketball for Wheaton college. While this wasn't the flashy D1 college I'd had in mind, I continued to develop my love for the game and began to develop my love for coaching.

How I can help you improve your game:

My overall approach to coaching remains the same across the board, and that is to focus on fine tuning areas where each player can improve on the fundamentals of basketball.

From there, I like to have a discussion with the player and their parents about what their specific goals may be and what I can do to help them attain those goals.

What a typical training session looks like with me:

This will fluctuate depending on the payer, their goals, and the specific ares that need improvement in order for them to reach their goals.

Career summary and accomplishments:

- Privately coached players ranging from 5 years old up to 18 years old. - Assistant coach of St Mary's high school - Head coach of MD 3D (U10) - Head coach of MD stars (U13,U14)

Best coach I ever had:

My 3 best coaches were Ed Wilson, Tim Miller, and John Calipari. These three taught me the critical components of being a great basketball player. Ed Wilson was my first coach and taught the importance of focusing on the fundamentals of basketball as a place to build from. Tim Miller taught me the importance of discipline, striving for excellence and fine tuning your craft. John Calipari taught me the importance of a belief in yourself and that you don't need to be 7 feet tall to succeed - you need dedication, discipline, and a love for the game.

What athletes and parents should know about me:

The average vertical jump for male basketball players is 17.7 inches (Lebron James' vertical jump averaged about 44 inches). Additionally, the percentage of people born who will grow to be 7 feet tall is .000038%. My point in providing these statistics is to assure you, that as a player, you do not need to be born with these exceptionally rare athletic features in order to be successful at basketball.

One of my absolute favorite basketball players to watch was a 6 foot 1" kid from Spokane, WA. He wasn't born athletically or physically gifted, but was dedicated and focused on perfecting the basic fundamentals of basketball. He went on to be labeled as one of the 50 greatest NBA players to ever play and has been routinely identified by other great players (like Michael Jordan) as one of the hardest players to compete against. His name is John Stockton.

All this to say, no matter your height, speed or jumping capabilities - if you are disciplined enough to focus and develop the critical fundamentals of basketball, you can be successful in basketball and the very highest level.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.

The AU guarantee (refund policy) has you covered! If you determine the coach isn't a good fit after your first lesson, let us know within 24 hours and you're eligible for a refund. We will also be happy to recommend another coach - be sure to contact our support team.

Our coaches are open to helping athletes of any age and skill level. Please message your desired coach to ensure their skillset fits your needs.
