I was born and raised in the Basketball crazed state of Indiana. I excelled as varsity player at one of the most storied and historic basketball programs in the state, Lafayette Jefferson High School, where I won multiple sectional titles. After graduating high school, I underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum suffered during my senior season of high school. Through hard work, dedication, and rehabilitation I was able to recover my health and become a Walk-On for the Ball State University Men's Basketball team in my sophomore year of college. After completing my time at Ball State University, I started my career as basketball coach.
I am able to help someone improve their game by assessing their strengths and weaknesses and formulating a plan to strengthen their strengths and improve on their weaknesses.
Through observation and evaluation, I am able to identify inefficiencies in a player's game, and then use corrective techniques or mental approaches to eliminate the inefficiency.
I am a big proponent of practicing fundamentals no matter how insignificant or basic they may seem.
A training session depends on the athlete I am working with. A training session with a player who is being recruited by college programs, is likely to look very different from a player hoping to get more minutes on his/her junior varsity or club team.
In general:
1. Begin with some dynamic warm-up exercises/stretches preparing the body for physical
activity.
2. Time spent on fundamentals, including ball-handling, shooting, passing, layup, and defensive
exercises/drills
3. Time spent strengthening the strengths of the player with intensity and intentionality.
4. Time spent correcting inefficiencies
5. Competitive drills with focus on correcting inefficiencies
6. Game-like scenarios
7. Fundamentals
8. Free-Throws/Cool Down drills
Throughout the training session, I am able to physically participate with the athlete.
I have an extensive coaching background. Some of my coaching background in Indiana includes: - 6 years as a Varsity Assistant Boys Basketball coach - 4 years as a Head Coach of an AAU Boys Basketball team - A year as a head coach for a 7th grade girls basketball team - A year as a Head Coach for a boy's 8th grade basketball team - I have coached and trained dozens of players of varying levels and abilities, some of whom have gone on to successful collegiate careers. Some of my coaching background in Arizona includes: The past 4 years as an Assistant Coach for the Varsity Men's Basketball Team at Tempe Prep Academy. As new staff 4 years ago, we turned the program around, leading the Men's basketball team to its first 1A State Title Championship game.
I've had several excellent coaches throughout my life. Singling out one coach is difficult because I have learned something valuable from each one. However, if I had to pick one, I'd select Coach Tim Fogarty. Coach Fogarty was my AAU coach as a young kid. Coach instilled discipline, fundamentals, and a winning mindset in his players. Little did I know as a 5th-6th grader, that Coach Fogarty had set the foundation of what would become a separator for success between me and other basketball players throughout the rest of my basketball journey!
What I think you should know about me is that I have been a High School Teacher for the past 10 years. I am very comfortable working with kids of all ages. As a result, I love teaching the game of basketball and making sure players that I work with have an understanding and context of what they are doing on the court. So, I will ask questions and give pop quizzes as well, haha! Have to be a student of the game!

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.
Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.
Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!
We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.
Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.
Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.
The AU guarantee (refund policy) has you covered! If you determine the coach isn't a good fit after your first lesson, let us know within 24 hours and you're eligible for a refund. We will also be happy to recommend another coach - be sure to contact our support team.
Our coaches are open to helping athletes of any age and skill level. Please message your desired coach to ensure their skillset fits your needs.
