How I can help you improve your game:

To improve your game, i focus on refining technical skills like shooting mechanics, ball handling, footwork, and passing techniques. Additionally, work on developing mental toughness, game intelligence, and confidence through tailored coaching approaches, goal setting, positive reinforcement, and staying updated on training methods. This holistic approach will help you reach your full potential on the court.

What a typical training session looks like with me:

A typical training session often begins with a warm-up routine to prepare the body for physical activity, including dynamic stretches and light cardio exercises. After warming up, the session typically progresses into skill development drills focusing on various aspects of the game such as shooting, dribbling, passing, and defensive techniques. These drills may involve repetition to reinforce muscle memory and improve technique.

Following skill development, we incorporate scrimmage or game-like situations to practice applying newly learned skills in a competitive setting. This allows players to work on decision-making, teamwork, and game awareness. Throughout the session, i provide feedback, corrections, and encouragement to help players improve.

Towards the end of the session, there may be cool-down exercises to help prevent injuries and promote recovery, such as static stretching and light cooldown drills. Additionally, i may use this time for individual or team discussions to reflect on the session, set goals, and provide motivation for future improvement.

Overall, a typical training session is structured to address both technical skill development and game intelligence, while also fostering a positive and supportive environment for player growth.

Career summary and accomplishments:

Discovered a passion for coaching during college, initially serving as a basketball intern, where I cultivated my coaching skills and knowledge of the game. Provided private coaching services for Fastbreak Sports in New York City, imparting expertise and guidance to athletes seeking to elevate their performance. Served as the Athletic Director and Head Coach for a premier charter school in NYC, leading the team to a championship victory through strategic planning, mentorship, and dedication. Founded and managed a successful youth training program, empowering numerous children to refine their basketball skills and gain admission to prestigious educational institutions. Contributed as an AAU coach for the New York Basketball team, mentoring aspiring athletes and fostering their growth both on and off the court.

Best coach I ever had:

The most impactful coach in my life has undoubtedly been Jason Armstrong, my AAU coach. Under his guidance, I discovered my potential and truly believed in my ability to reach the next level in basketball. Without his support, I may not have realized my full potential. His coaching prowess is evident in his recent achievement as the head coach of Lincoln University, leading the team to its first-ever NCAA championship. I couldn't be prouder of his accomplishments and the lasting influence he's had on my journey.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.

The AU guarantee (refund policy) has you covered! If you determine the coach isn't a good fit after your first lesson, let us know within 24 hours and you're eligible for a refund. We will also be happy to recommend another coach - be sure to contact our support team.
