Athletic Background
Summary of Career and Accomplishments
I played high school basketball for my high school G. Holmes Braddock. I have gone to many exposure camps overseas to put myself into the shoes of what it takes to become a professional in this sport. To experience it myself would be something that can increase my knowledge and enhance my abilities to better coach and develop young athletes.
Played overseas in Valencia, Spain for the Europro Basketball team .The game overseas is very team oriented and that will help players learn basketball IQ.
I competed national in the sport of paintball. I have finished with a lot of top place finishes and the experience transcends to another level. I was traveling the world playing a sport which I deeply enjoy. I was experiencing what it was like to play on an organized team whether you get paid or you pay, is something that can relate to playing on any sports team. I have been competing since 2012 to 2017 traveling every year to compete against the top competition and growing along the way. There were many wins, but there were a lot of losses as well. Overall, I can teach them values that can help their careers in many ways.
Who is the best coach you ever had and why?
My JV highschool coach, gave me so much inspiration and motivation to continue playing the sport. He was someone that instilled a lot of confidence in my game and helped me succeed as I got older. For ever grateful to have been coached by him.
What should athletes and parents know about you?
My sessions are all about improving in specific skills that will help them play better in games. Also, a lot players tend to understand that once a week with a trainer will solve all their problems. What ever we go over during the session, you must work on those things alone through out the week until you master it. Too many times, young athletes ask me why they aren't improving and its for the lack of putting in time to work on new things and challenge yourself. As a coach I am there to teach and instruct on new techniques and how to perform them, after that it is the responsibility of the athlete to put more time into that new technique to fully master it.
Coaching Background
Summary of Coaching Background
I have been coaching young athletes since 2014. I was the head coach for the Good Shepard Catholic Church JV and Varsity boys' basketball team. Led both teams to successful seasons and won a Championship with the Varsity team (JV had no playoffs for some reason).
I interned at my high school G. Holmes Braddock for 1 season and assisted the head JV and Varsity coaches. After my one year I started to work for a Basketball Academy where we train dozens of kids almost every day and coach games with those same kids. We work with kids a 5 years and up. I have been here since 2017 to 2021.
I currently run my own Basketball operations under Hi Line Basketball
I currently am a certified USA Certified Youth Coach.
How can you help someone improve their game?
During sessions I look to find techniques in which the player isn't really comfortable performing or overall not very well. That is where we can disect any issues and work on ways to help improve in those certain aspects. Overall I'm looking to find failures in the session which will give us a chance to learn and adapt more efficiently.
What does a typical training session look like?
Always start off with ball handling. I believe the most important skill to learn is being able to dribble the ball. I start off with stationary dribbles and then progress into moving with the ball and footwork with ball handling.
Then move on to working on finishes around the rim. Slowly progressing into detailed footwork while shooting multiple finishes with both hands.
After this I like to get into some technique drill that can help easily translate to game scenario. There are always things to work whether it be learning new skill or tweaking an already good skill, it all depends on the level of play from the player.
Continuing with some shooting in many different ways, start off on the move then ending up game like shots. Then a cool down and that would be it for one session.
