About Me:

As a Division 1 starting outside hitter, I gained invaluable experience competing at the highest collegiate level. Throughout my career, I’ve played nearly every position on the court, giving me a well-rounded understanding of the game while increasing my versatility and determination, which has shaped my coaching philosophy and provided me with a unique perspective to help athletes excel in any role. My experiences, which include three knee surgery recoveries during my college career, have also taught me the value of discipline, adaptability, and mental resilience. Competing at an elite level, I learned firsthand the importance of mental performance in achieving consistent success, lessons I now teach to the athletes I work with both on and off the court.

How I can help you improve your game:

I help players enhance their technical skills like serving, passing, hitting, digging, blocking, and setting. Beyond that, I teach athletes to think tactically and make smarter decisions on the court by understanding the game from multiple positional perspectives. I also assist athletes in identifying mental barriers holding them back—such as lack of focus or self-doubt—and equip them with tools to overcome these challenges. Through goal-setting, self-awareness training, and strategies like productive self-talk and visualization, I empower athletes to perform with confidence and consistency.

What a typical training session looks like with me:

A typical volleyball coaching session includes targeted skill work tailored to the athlete’s specific experience and positional needs, supplemented by physical drills like strength, agility, or plyometric exercises. Based on the level of the athlete, I aim to structure lessons in a way that provides game-like experience as well as skill instruction and correction. This way, players will understand and be able to apply the technical skill into their practices and game play.

As a Mental Performance Coach, sessions will be tailored to the specific goals and challenges of the athlete or team. For example, a session might start with self-awareness exercises to pinpoint areas for growth, followed by practical mental skills training, such as focus drills, confidence-building exercises, and techniques for handling high-pressure moments. Each session is tailored to the athlete’s unique needs, with a focus on equipping them with lasting tools for success in sport and life.

Career summary and accomplishments:

With over 13 years of coaching experience, I’ve worked at every level, from high school to club and college programs. I’ve guided teams to championship success, developed players into collegiate-level athletes, and was named CIF-SS Coach of the Year in 2024. My expertise spans individual skill development, team strategy, and fostering elite cultures. Additionally, as a Mental Performance Coach with about 5 years of experience, I’ve worked with athletes across various sports and competitive levels, helping them refine their focus, manage pressure, and achieve sustained success.

Best coach I ever had:

My first club coach, Robert McNutt at NCVC, laid the foundation for my love of the game by instilling a deep understanding of volleyball and an unwavering belief in my ability to succeed. Additionally, my high school strength and conditioning coach, Michael Gimenez, introduced me to a new level of physical and mental discipline, sparking my passion for helping others achieve their own goals. Both coaches shaped my passion for mentoring athletes holistically.

What athletes and parents should know about me:

I’m fully committed to each athlete’s growth as both a player and a person. I take a personalized approach to each athlete, focusing on both their mental and physical growth. My coaching approach emphasizes skill development, mental toughness, and positive character building. Parents can trust that I will create a supportive yet challenging environment where their athletes can thrive as I prioritize their overall well-being, teaching skills that not only enhance athletic performance but also promote personal growth, resilience, and confidence.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.

The AU guarantee (refund policy) has you covered! If you determine the coach isn't a good fit after your first lesson, let us know within 24 hours and you're eligible for a refund. We will also be happy to recommend another coach - be sure to contact our support team.
