Throughout my high school career in South Dakota, I was fortunate to compete at the state level in track and field all four years, refining my skills and pushing my limits against the best in the state. My dedication and performance on the track earned me recognition, culminating in an offer to run track at Minnesota State University, Mankato (MNSU) an opportunity that acknowledged my potential to compete at the collegiate level. While I ultimately chose to focus on my academic and personal development at the time, my passion for track and athletics has always remained strong.
My approach to helping athletes improve their game is grounded in attention to detail, personalized training, and a focus on both physical and mental growth. The first step is to assess where you are whether it's your form, technique, strength, or endurance and identify key areas that need improvement. From there, I design a customized training plan that targets your specific needs, helping you sharpen your skills, increase speed, and boost overall performance.
I also implement innovative methods to keep training fresh and challenging, ensuring you’re constantly evolving as an athlete. Whether it’s improving your sprint times, building explosive power, or refining agility, I’m here to push you beyond your comfort zone in a way that’s both safe and effective.
Each training session is carefully structured to fit your individual goals and needs, but typically, it starts with a dynamic warm-up to get your body ready for peak performance. This includes mobility work, activation exercises, and stretches to ensure you’re moving efficiently and prepared to give your best effort.
From there, we move into the core of the session, which can vary depending on your focus. For track athletes, this might involve sprint drills, plyometrics, or speed endurance work to build explosive power and refine your technique. If you're working on strength and conditioning, we’ll incorporate resistance training, bodyweight exercises, and targeted muscle work to enhance overall athleticism.
Throughout the session, I closely monitor your form, providing corrections and feedback to ensure that you’re not just working hard but working smart. We wrap up with a cool-down that includes stretching, recovery techniques, and a quick discussion of progress and goals for the next session.
My coaching experience began during high school, where I helped coach my middle school’s track team. Working with younger athletes gave me valuable insight into how to teach proper form, technique, and the fundamentals of track and field. I enjoyed helping them develop their skills and watching them grow as athletes. In addition to coaching middle school athletes, I also worked closely with some of my own teammates, providing guidance and support in their training. Whether it was sharing techniques or offering advice on race strategy, I was always eager to help my peers improve and push themselves to reach new heights. These experiences have helped shape my approach as a trainer today, where I continue to apply the same passion for helping athletes refine their abilities and achieve their goals.
The best coach I ever had was Seth Boomsma, a personal trainer who completely redefined me as a track runner. Seth had an incredible ability to push me beyond what I thought were my limits, both physically and mentally. His training went beyond just improving my speed or technique—it was about developing self-discipline, resilience, and a strong work ethic that carried over into all areas of my life.
Seth’s influence helped shape me into the athlete I am today, and the lessons I learned from him are ones I bring into my own training style. He taught me that success isn't just about talent but about the consistency, grit, and willingness to grow. It’s this philosophy that I now apply when helping others on their fitness journeys.
As a coach and personal trainer, I’m here to elevate your athlete to the next level. My focus is on building a solid foundation by carefully studying their form, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing innovative training techniques tailored to their specific needs.
I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach each athlete has their own strengths and challenges, and I’m dedicated to creating a personalized plan that maximizes their potential. From refining speed and agility to boosting strength and endurance, I’ll work closely with your child to ensure they not only excel in their sport but also grow in confidence, discipline, and overall athleticism.
My goal is to help your athlete succeed, whether it’s competing at a higher level or simply reaching personal milestones. Together, we’ll work hard, stay committed, and see results.
