Focus on the fundamentals to a form a foundation that lasts at every level!

Hi, my name is Claire Jones, and I am a junior outside back for the Southern Methodist University women's soccer team and we compete in the ACC! I have been training and mentoring kids since the summer going into my junior year of high school. I grew up in Ridgefield, Wa. but commuted to Portland, Or. for most of my club career. I competed for two seasons at Oregon State University and then transferred to SMU in Dallas for my last two. All of my accomplishments so far, I devote completely to the extra training and hard work I put in. In order to be the best, you first have to outwork everyone around you. My philosophy in my own game, and when training and mentoring younger players, is to perfect the basics and outwork everyone. Without a foundation of the basic tactual and technical skills, it's hard to grow other parts of your game. I also like to emphasize the importance of growing as a player and person through the sport.

Get to know Coach Claire

About Me:

Hi! My name is Claire Jones I am currently a junior at Southern Methodist University where I have the privilege to play soccer and also earn a degree in Economics with a minor in Spanish. Before SMU I competed for two seasons at Oregon State University. My club years were spent commuting to Portland, Or. to play ECNL for both FC Portland and Thorns Academy. Off the field I love to read, be outside, do pilates, and be with my family. I was born and raised in Ridgefield, Wa. and I am an identical twin, and we are in the middle of four girls! My twin sister Cameron plays D1 soccer as well at the Virginia Military Institute. Faith and family are very important to me and why I am here today! I also grew up on a blackberry farm which has definitely shown me the importance and power of hard work and staying consistent. Soccer is such a huge part of my life and what I plan on continuing in my future and to me it is so much more than just a sport, but rather a way of life.

How I can help you improve your game:

Having a twin sister made me so fortunate to have a built-in training partner. Together we spent thousands of hours on our own training and perfecting our craft. To be able to dominate at any level, you have to master the basis, which is where I always want to improve first. I also put high importance on developing IQ of the game, confidence, and speed & agility.

What a typical training session looks like with me:

This is the basic framework for a training session with me: 1) Warmup; dynamic/static movements, ladder, agility, etc. 2) Ball Mastery; confidence on the ball, tight-spaced technical drills 3) Dribbling; all parts of the feet, using both feet! 4) Passing; directional 1st touch, firm passing, body positioning, etc. 4) Finishing; touch & finish, 1v1 & shot, turn to goal, etc.

Career summary and accomplishments:

USYNT ID Camp, ECNL Regional Camp, Clark County All-Region Team, Clark County Athlete of the Week, WCC All-Academic Team

Best coach I ever had:

Brian Gant and Mike DePinna (FC Portland)

What athletes and parents should know about me:

I am here to be a mentor and trainer for kids in the ways I wish I had someone. To this day I battle with the things that can't be physically taught because it's all in my head. Whether it's lack of confidence, struggle with coaching, whether to make a move or not, I am here to help and support because I have lived it and still am. The soccer stuff is easy to teach, I want to do more than just improve how kids can kick a ball, I want to teach them lifelong lessons through it as well.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.

The AU guarantee (refund policy) has you covered! If you find yourself needing to cancel or adjust your booking within 24 hours of your purchase, just let us know. We'll provide a refund - no questions asked. Your satisfaction is our top priority, and we're here to support your learning journey.

Our coaches are open to helping athletes of any age and skill level. Please message your desired coach to ensure their skillset fits your needs.

AU was created by former collegiate and professional athletes. We understand the benefits of training with a private coach. It develops discipline, boosts confidence, and provides an undeniable advantage - whether you are just learning the game or looking to earn a college scholarship. All AU coaches are required to pass a thorough onboarding process and we proudly showcase a 10% acceptance rate, so you can trust you're training with the best.

At the end of the day, our mission is to provide athletes with better opportunities to succeed through coaching. You won't find a platform, and group of dedicated specialists, more excited to help you achieve your athletic goals!
