Get to know Coach Hunter

About Me:

Hi, my name is Hunter Broadbent, and I am here to use my baseball experience to help you! I have worked alongside some of the best players in baseball and have won multiple championships during my time with the St. Louis Cardinals, New York Mets, UConn Huskies, and in the Cape Cod Baseball League, and being back home in Massachusetts, would love to help young athletes maximize their potential and make it to the pros!

How I can help you improve your game:

I know what it takes to succeed both as a position player and as a pitcher, so I have a strong database of drills and training methods to help you maximize your potential in whatever position you play!

What a typical training session looks like with me:

For pitchers, we will work on the best ways to build velocity, whether it be band or plyo ball work, long toss, or pitch grips, and discuss how that can translate to the mound. We will then get you on the mound, assess what your strengths are, work to maximize those, and then address what we can do to make you better! For position players, we will get reps in hitting and fielding and catching, if applicable for catchers, and train all areas of your game depending on what you want the most work in. In general, we will balance these aspects of your game out dependent on what is best for you! There will be work on mechanics, approach, mindset, and more.

Career summary and accomplishments:

I have a wealth of experience in professional baseball, working on multiple championship coaching staffs and priding myself on player development. This past year, I was an Affiliate Fellow for the St. Louis Cardinals, directing video, technology, and advance scouting information for Double-A Springfield, the Texas League Champions and winningest club in franchise history, where I was a trusted member of the coaching staff and an active voice in Player Development. In 2024, as a Player Development Associate for the New York Mets, I was the director of video, technology, and advance scouting information for Double-A Binghamton, handling duties for Baseball Systems, Analytics, Player Development, possessing a strong voice on the coaching staff during a season in which the Mets exceeded expectations in the midst of significant organizational changes and growth. Prior to entering professional baseball, I was the Director of Baseball Development / Analytics for the University of Connecticut Baseball team, where I rose to a position of prominence as a Junior, becoming one of the only undergraduates on a collegiate coaching staff across D1 Baseball. I helped lead UConn to a New England-record 50 wins and Super Regional in 2022, and a Big East Championship, ranking #9 in the country, in 2023. Was in uniform, carefully balancing “tech and tact," handling coaching responsibilities such as on-field drills, actively speaking in scouting meetings, and giving presentations at camps and to prospective-student athletes. I also spent the summer of 2022 with the Bourne Braves of the Cape Cod Baseball League, where I was Baseball Operations intern for 2022 Cape Cod League Champions, driving Player Development alongside a diverse group of coaches and players. I grew up in the game, learning from my dad, Bill Broadbent, the longtime Red Sox Video Coordinator, where I learned important lessons from an early age and had the best baseball education one could possibly enjoy.

Best coach I ever had:

The best coach I have ever had was Jim Penders, the Head Coach for the University of Connecticut Baseball team. Coach Penders taught numerous lessons that I have taken into my life, whether it be focusing on the three things you can control in life (your attitude, concentration, and effort), learning how to be unafraid of challenges, and always treating people with respect.

What athletes and parents should know about me:

Athletes and parents should know that I will do whatever I can to help get you to the next level! I know what it takes to succeed in professional baseball and I know what coaches at the top are looking for, so I can use that experience to help train you and hopefully get you there. I bring a great deal of passion, knowledge, and drive, and I love to have fun while we do it! After all, baseball is the best sport in the world, and having fun playing the game leads to confidence and long-term success.

I will work with you as far as where it is best for parents and athletes to train. I am flexible with my schedule during the baseball offseason and am happy to come to where it is best for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.

The AU guarantee (refund policy) has you covered! If you find yourself needing to cancel or adjust your booking within 24 hours of your purchase, just let us know. We'll provide a refund - no questions asked. Your satisfaction is our top priority, and we're here to support your learning journey.

Our coaches are open to helping athletes of any age and skill level. Please message your desired coach to ensure their skillset fits your needs.

AU was created by former collegiate and professional athletes. We understand the benefits of training with a private coach. It develops discipline, boosts confidence, and provides an undeniable advantage - whether you are just learning the game or looking to earn a college scholarship. All AU coaches are required to pass a thorough onboarding process and we proudly showcase a 10% acceptance rate, so you can trust you're training with the best.

At the end of the day, our mission is to provide athletes with better opportunities to succeed through coaching. You won't find a platform, and group of dedicated specialists, more excited to help you achieve your athletic goals!
