Athletic Background
Summary of Career and Accomplishments
Started playing volleyball in High School in Arizona and made it to State Playoffs both junior and seniors years. I also joined a club where we traveled all around the West Coast for tournaments and Nationals. I then joined Arizona State University's club team where I had the opportunity to play against some notable Division I teams such as UCLA, Long Beach State, and Pepperdine.
Since then I've played in various tournaments whether it's Beach, Grass, or Indoor.
Who is the best coach you ever had and why?
My Club volleyball coaches are the reason I love to coach to this day. They showed me a different side of volleyball, and how important being consistent is to success and progress. They taught me how to be adaptable and analytical in order to recognize different ways to win or succeed.
Most of all, they taught me how to have fun no matter what, and how volleyball brings people together no matter where you go or play.
What should athletes and parents know about you?
Volleyball has given so much to me over the years, friends, my family (met my wife playing on the beach in San Diego!), competition, travel, and just pure fun. And now I just want to find a way to give that passion back in any way I can.
My first time coaching volleyball was probably the most rewarding experience of my life, where this group of girls who had never played volleyball before but were all athletes in different sports and were able to come together and win some games in the end. After starting the season 0 - 12, to see them win that first game and see all that work and effort finally come to fruition was something I will never forget!

How can you help someone improve their game?
Like most sports, understanding and mastering the mechanics and footwork are key to any improvement! Once those are recognized and practiced, different facets of the game can be introduced.
Depending on your skill level, we'll spend the time necessary to be comfortable in every situation of the game first, and then move on to more tactical situations.
What does a typical training session look like?
Ever session starts with a proper warm up, which is usually some light stretching, "peppering", and footwork.
After that, we'll attack the basics to assess skill levels for serving, passing, setting, and hitting. Once that is done, there's a wide range of drills that can be done to enhance abilities and comfort levels.
At the end of every session, you'll have the knowledge and confidence to reproduce those skills in any volleyball setting. This is really a "practice makes perfect" situation. The sooner you're able to repeat what you learn during a session, the faster you'll progress to more skilled drills.
