Hitting & Catching Coach | Former Four-Year D1 Baseball Player

As a former Division I baseball player, I bring a high-level of expertise to 1-on-1 hitting and catching instruction. I work with young baseball players to improve their fundamentals, mechanics, confidence, and overall understanding of the game. My goal is to help every athlete leave each session more confident, knowledgeable, and prepared to perform.

About me

Hello! My name is Brayden, and I am a recent graduate of Coastal Carolina University and former four-year Division I baseball player. I began my career at Liberty University, where I played for two years, before transferring to the University of Oklahoma for my junior year and ultimately finishing my athletic and academic career at Coastal Carolina. Throughout my career, I was fortunate to learn from some of the best coaches in the country and gain firsthand experience with what it takes to compete at a high level and build a winning culture. With my acquired knowledge, I’m excited to give back to the next generation of athletes to develop their skills, confidence, and love for the game.

I specialize in hitting and catching instruction, with an emphasis on developing strong fundamentals and creating repeatable movements. For hitters, I believe each hitter has individual needs and that instruction should be specific to each athlete. I create individualized programs that cater to each player’s own unique skillset. For catchers, I focus on the many aspects that create a successful catcher: game management, receiving, blocking, and footwork, along with creating a detailed plan to encourage good habits. Once again, my biggest belief is that each athlete has different needs, so I adjust instruction based on their age, experience, strengths, and areas for improvement.

Hitting: I typically start each session with middle-of-the-zone tee work to get a feel for the player’s swing and identify areas we can improve. I also take video throughout the session and send it back to the player afterward with feedback and adjustments they can continue working on. From there, I progress into individualized tee drills and front flips based on the player’s specific needs. Throughout the session, I introduce and reinforce drills that help create efficient, repeatable movement patterns and translate into a more consistent swing.

Catching: I recently developed a catching program focused on building efficient movement patterns and establishing a strong foundation for long-term development. My approach emphasizes proper positioning, receiving, blocking, footwork, and throwing while teaching catchers how to effectively win strikes and give their pitchers confidence. My goal is to develop catchers who are fundamentally sound, athletic, and prepared to handle the demands of the position.

In my collegiate career in over 144 career NCAA games, I hit .287 with a .418 OBP, .912 OPS, 18 home runs, and 20 doubles. I entered college as a catcher and developed into a first baseman and outfielder as well. Following my freshman year, I was blessed to receive Freshman All-Conference and All-Conference honors. My collegiate experience has given me firsthand knowledge of the work ethic, preparation, and attention to detail required to compete at a high level.

As I mentioned, I’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of some great programs with tremendous coaching, but the best coach I’ve ever had was Todd Butler at Oklahoma. Not only is he incredibly knowledgeable, but he believes in his players while pushing them to be the best versions of themselves possible. He has the perfect balance of lightheartedness while also knowing when to hold his team accountable. He provides a great mix of team coaching and individualized instruction, while knowing exactly how to rally the troops when the moment calls for it.

I have a strong passion for the game of baseball and for creating meaningful relationships with the people around me. One of the aspects I loved most about playing, and now coaching, is building relationships and having a positive impact on others. I am what many would call a “players’ coach,” meaning I prioritize the well-being, growth, and development of my athletes while helping them become the best versions of themselves both on and off the field. I believe that when players know their coach genuinely cares about them, they are more willing to learn, work, and push themselves. My goal is to develop young athletes by instilling the confidence they need to pursue their baseball aspirations.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.
