I help players maximize their potential and development to help further them

Hi, my name is Brandon Orth. I’ve been involved in hockey for over 25 years as a player, coach, scout, and advisor. I played high school, AAA, junior, and college hockey, and later served as the head coach at Saginaw Valley State University ACHA Division I. My passion is helping players develop both on and off the ice while guiding them through the process of advancing their hockey careers. Through my experience and network across AAA, junior, college, and professional levels, I focus on helping players and their families understand the path in front of them and make the best decisions for their future. I believe in honest guidance, strong relationships, and creating opportunities for players to reach their full potential.

About Me:

Hockey has been a central part of my life for over 25 years. I grew up playing the game at multiple levels, including high school, AAA, juniors, and college, which gave me a deep understanding of the development path players face. After my playing career, I transitioned into coaching and served as the head coach at Saginaw Valley State University’s ACHA Division I program for four years. Coaching allowed me to stay connected to the game while helping players grow both on and off the ice.

Today, I remain passionate about supporting hockey players and their families as they navigate the challenges and opportunities within the sport. Through my experience playing, coaching, scouting, and advising, I’ve developed a strong network across AAA, junior, college, and professional hockey. My goal is to provide honest guidance, mentorship, and opportunities for players to reach their full potential.

Off the ice, I value family and balance in life. I am married with two young kids (Roman; 3 years old and Caroline; 10 months old)

How I can help you improve your game:

Helping an individual improve in hockey starts with focusing on overall development both on and off the ice. This includes strengthening core skills such as skating, puck handling, passing, and shooting while also helping the player better understand the game through video, situational learning, and communication. Off the ice, physical training, proper recovery, and nutrition all play an important role in a player’s development. Just as important is the mental side of the game—building confidence, maintaining a strong work ethic, and learning from mistakes. By providing honest feedback, setting clear goals, and creating opportunities for growth, a player can continue progressing and reach their full potential.

What a typical training session looks like with me:

Meeting beforehand and going over what you would like to learn and what you struggle with, after the first session being able to see what the areas of focus are we will attack those until they become a strength.

Career summary and accomplishments:

Played 20 years of competitive hockey at all levels except the professional level, coaching at the college level.

Best coach I ever had:

Doug Towler, head coach Davison High School

What athletes and parents should know about me:

I am hard working and expect that out of the players that I work with. Sometimes talent won't be there but you can always control you work ethic and your work that you put into something.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.

  • Good Fit Guarantee — If your first lesson isn't the right fit, we'll move your lesson credit to a new coach. No hassle.
