I have a strong passion and knowledge for the game of baseball. I played and trained in the sport of baseball for 27 years. I love sports and the hard work it takes to be successful. I was a 3 sport athlete throughout my high school career, with a big emphasis on baseball. I was one of only 28 kids out of high school in Illinois to be invited to a MLB tryout with several major league teams. I am currently a high school head baseball coach and have coached little league and middle school for 4 years since getting out of playing. I played here in Colorado for the NABA for 11 years and was a player coach throughout that entire time as well. I love working and coaching kids and adults alike. My main positions were pitcher and catcher, but played a lot of infield positions as well as outfield. I was trained throughout my younger adult life by major league coaches and attended several collegiate and professional camps throughout that time. I would love the opportunity to help in you, or your athletes development in the sport. Weather that be specific positions, batting, fielding, mental training, or physical training. I look forward to working with you and your athlete.

I have played or still play in many sports. Mainly baseball. I played from t-ball all the way through minor league and adult private traveling clubs. Out of high school in Illinois, I was 1 of only 28 kids invited to attend a pretty extensive MLB tryout for several major league teams. Once real life set in and the MLB didn't workout for me, I moved to Colorado and ended up playing for the NABA for 11 years. I played in the highest level of play with former MLB, Minor League, and collegiate players.
Once I get to know the individual and their abilities I am really good at breaking down the fundamentals and mechanics of the position(s) they are trying to get better in. I work well with younger and older kids/adults and can break things down to their level for easy understanding and communication. Repetition is the key success and continual practice goes a long way. I can also show each individual things they can work on at home or in their free time to get better and continue their growth.
Typically I like to meet with the athlete and have a brief discussion on what they are looking to achieve with my help. I like to ask some basic questions to help myself get to know them and their athletic background. Then from there we start right away with drills, work outs, conversations, and most importantly having fun while doing it. A major part of our sessions is making sure that we are working on things that you want to work on. Getting the most out of your time with me as a private coach. We can schedule times at your home, parks, facilities, etc.

The best coach by far was a gentlemen by the name of Spanky McFarland. He was the head coach for the Northern Illinois Huskie, my home town, from 1991-1997 where he restarted a program that had been discontinued in 1982. He led the team to the Midwestern Collegiate Conference title in 1996 and has won 143 games while there.
McFarland became head coach at James Madison University in 1998. In 2002, JMU set a school record for wins at 44-16 and McFarland was named Colonial Athletic Association Coach of the Year. In 2008, James Madison won the CAA Tournament for the first time and Spanky reached 500 career coaching wins. He retired after the 2015 season.
McFarland ran a coaching clinic for the Austrian Baseball Federation in 2007. He is the author of Developing Pitchers and Coaching Pitchers. He is also a deacon at First Presbyterian Church in Harrisonburg.
I have really enjoyed coaching kids and adults since I have stopped playing competitively. It always brings me true happiness to pass along my knowledge and love for the game to anyone that wants to learn. I have most recently taken over a broken program for Platte Canyon High School and rebuilding their baseball system and team. I have watched these kids gain momentum and passion for the game while having fun playing. The most important thing I like to pass along is working hard and staying confident in yourself. Baseball is a tough game and has many moving parts to it. The game of baseball is 90% mental and working through that can be difficult for parents and volunteer coaches to pass along. I have been through many different systems and coaches throughout my career and have a lot of experience in many aspects of the game that I can help with. I do get a lot of compliments from other parents about how well their kid has grown and enjoyed my coaching abilities. I hope to have the opportunity to help you or your athlete.
