About Me:

As a swimming athlete with nearly 20 years of experience, I have navigated both triumphs and challenges across various levels of the sport. My career includes competing in seven national championships, the 2016 Olympic Trials, and three Big Ten Conference Championships, and I still hold records at both the club and Maryland State swimming levels. Following my swimming career, I transitioned into collegiate coaching and expanded my athletic pursuits. In 2019, I took up Olympic weightlifting, competing in numerous local, state, and national events. Most recently, I ventured into hurling—Irish lacrosse—and, as of August 2024, am proud to be part of our national championship team in Raleigh. This diverse athletic background provides me with a rich understanding of performance and a unique perspective that I bring to my coaching approach.

How I can help you improve your game:

My approach to helping athletes improve their performance is straightforward. First, we take a step back to assess what we want to achieve, identify existing strengths, and pinpoint areas for improvement. Next, we develop a plan to enhance these areas while maintaining and building upon the athlete’s current strengths. The goal is to make targeted improvements—aiming for 10% better in specific areas—while continuing to leverage and refine the athlete’s existing skills.

What a typical training session looks like with me:

There isn’t a typical training session with me, as each athlete is unique and each session is tailored to their specific needs. We continually adjust our approach to ensure that the training provides the necessary adaptations for the athlete to become stronger, faster, and more efficient. Each session focuses on different aspects of improvement, reflecting the individual’s progress and evolving goals.

Career summary and accomplishments:

I served as the lead assistant coach at the University of Rochester for four years. During my tenure, I guided athletes to achieve numerous NCAA qualifying times, conference championships, competitive swims, and team records. Additionally, I played a crucial role in helping athletes reach their individual and team goals. While coaching at William Peace University, I have achieved similar successes to those at the University of Rochester. I have helped athletes reach their personal goals, improve their swimming performance, and enhance their efficiency both in the pool and in the classroom. Most importantly, I have supported them in graduating on time with degrees that will advance their chosen career paths.

Best coach I ever had:

One of the best coaches I ever worked with was my club coach back in Maryland. Our successful partnership stemmed from a shared understanding that we were both invested in achieving my athletic goals and his coaching objectives. This mutual commitment fostered a collaborative relationship, where our focus was on continuous improvement—what we needed to do to get better today, what needed to be achieved in a month, and how to sustain progress over time. This partnership approach was integral to our success and greatly influenced my coaching philosophy.

Athletes and parents should know that working with me will center on three key principles. First and foremost, we will prioritize having fun. Sports should be an enjoyable experience, and it’s essential to preserve that sense of joy. Second, we will focus on research-driven performance. In an era where information is readily available, we will leverage it to enhance your athletic development. Lastly, communication is a core value of mine. By maintaining open and effective dialogue, we will build a strong partnership and work together towards achieving our collective goals.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.

The AU guarantee (refund policy) has you covered! If you determine the coach isn't a good fit after your first lesson, let us know within 24 hours and you're eligible for a refund. We will also be happy to recommend another coach - be sure to contact our support team.
