Master your mindset. Own your moment.

As a high school coach, I see incredibly talented athletes work tirelessly on their physical skills, only to get blocked by self-doubt, performance anxiety, or a bad play they just can't shake. I bridge that gap by teaching athletes how to train their minds just like they train their bodies. Together, we build the mental toughness, confidence, and resilience they need to handle high-pressure moments—not just so they can win more games and get an edge over the competition, but so they can truly enjoy their sport again. When you master the mental game, you stop reacting to the pressure and start owning the moment.

About Me:

I believe that the biggest obstacle between a talented athlete and their full potential isn’t physical skill—it’s what happens between their ears.

With over two decades of experience as a high school varsity coach and a career deeply rooted in high school education, I have spent thousands of hours mentoring teenagers through the unique, high-pressure world of modern youth sports. I know firsthand what it takes to build a thriving team culture, and I understand the intense academic and athletic demands today's students face daily.

Throughout my years on the sidelines and in the classroom, I’ve watched incredibly gifted players lose their confidence after a single mistake, buckle under the pressure of competition, or let performance anxiety ruin the game they used to love. Physical training can only take an athlete so far. To truly excel, they must train their minds just like they train their bodies.

That is why I transitioned into mental performance coaching. My approach bridges the gap between physical effort and mental resilience. I teach athletes actionable, proven mental strategies to shake off mistakes, build unstoppable confidence, and thrive under pressure. I don't just train them to win the next game; I equip them with a resilient mindset they will use for the rest of their lives.

When I’m not coaching or working with students, you can usually find me pursuing my own passion for fitness in the weight room or spending time with my family.

Ready to take your mental game to the next level? Let’s connect and build your competitive edge.

How I can help you improve your game:

Physical talent gets you on the court, but mental performance dictates how you play when the pressure is on. Here is exactly how I bridge that gap:

Beating Performance Anxiety: I teach athletes how to quiet pre-game nerves and channel that energy into razor-sharp focus.

The "Next Play" Mindset: Elite athletes don't dwell on mistakes. I provide actionable strategies to shake off an error instantly so it doesn’t turn into a bad game.

Building Unshakeable Confidence: True confidence isn't accidental. I train athletes in self-talk and visualization techniques so they take the court knowing they belong there.

Thriving Under Pressure: I teach stress-management and breathing tools that slow the game down, allowing for clear decision-making in high-stakes, clutch moments.

The result? Less overthinking, fewer mental errors, and an athlete who plays free, fast, and with a true competitive edge.

What a typical training session looks like with me:

Inside a Mental Performance Session

My sessions are structured to be conversational, practical, and highly focused. They aren't lectures—they are interactive strategy sessions designed to fit seamlessly into a student-athlete's week.

A typical 45-to-60-minute session follows a clear four-step process:

1. The Game Film Review (10 mins): We start by breaking down recent performances, practices, or weeks at school. We celebrate the mental wins and pinpoint the exact moments where frustration, anxiety, or overthinking crept in.

2. Skill Building & Strategy (20 mins): This is where the core training happens. Based on what the student-athlete needs that week, I introduce a specific, evidence-based mental tool. This could be a resetting routine to shake off mistakes, a breathing technique to lower pre-game heart rate, or a visualization drill to build confidence.

3. The Practice Plan (15 mins): We don't just talk about the strategy; we practice it right then and there. I roleplay high-pressure game scenarios so the student-athlete can practice applying their new mental tools in a safe, controlled environment.

4. The "Home Play" Assignment (5 mins): Every session ends with a concrete, bite-sized action plan for the upcoming week. I give them one or two specific mental drills to test out during their regular team practices and games, ensuring the skills transfer directly from our session to the court or field.

The Format

Duration: 45 to 60 minutes.

Delivery: Conducted via a secure online video platform, making it incredibly easy for busy student-athletes to fit into their schedules between practices, schoolwork, and games.

Career summary and accomplishments:

For over twenty years, I have operated at the intersection of competitive sports and adolescent development. My career is defined by a deep commitment to mentoring youth—helping student-athletes bridge the gap between their physical capabilities and their mental execution.

As both a veteran high school varsity coach and a career professional educator, I have spent more than two decades analyzing how pressure, stress, and expectations affect teenage performance. Having guided hundreds of student-athletes through consecutive seasons of high-stakes competition, I transitioned into specialized mental performance coaching to address the single greatest variable in an athlete’s success: their mindset.

My extensive experience on the court, on the sidelines, and in the classroom allows me to deliver evidence-based mental training that is highly practical, age-appropriate, and immediately actionable.

Best coach I ever had:

When people talk about great coaches, they often point to standard sports metrics—tactical brilliance, flawless playbooks, or a lifetime spent playing the game at an elite level. But the best coach I ever had didn’t start with any of those things. He was my high school volleyball coach, and the legacy he left had very little to do with what he knew when he first stepped onto the court, and everything to do with how deeply he cared.

He took over a struggling program that was searching for direction. At the time, he didn’t actually know much about volleyball. It was a sport outside his comfort zone, but instead of letting that limit us, he used it as an opportunity to lead by example. He completely threw himself into the sport. He taught himself the game from the ground up, fueled entirely by a fierce passion to do right by his players and to revitalize our program.

But what truly set him apart wasn't how fast he learned the game—it was how intentionally he invested in us.

He took the time to really get to know every single one of us as individuals. It was always abundantly evident that he cared about who we were off the court just as much as who we were on it. For him, coaching wasn't a one-size-fits-all equation; it was about making those genuine, one-on-one connections. He understood what motivated us, when we needed a push, and when we just needed someone to listen. His true passion was helping students find their footing, using volleyball as the vehicle to build our confidence and character.

He proved that you don't need to start as a technical expert to be a legendary mentor. You just need to care enough to learn, show up authentically, and put the athletes first. Long after the final whistle of my high school career, the lessons he taught me about dedication, empathy, and personal connection are the ones that stayed with me.

What athletes and parents should know about me:

At the end of the day, my coaching philosophy is rooted in a simple truth I learned from the best coach I ever had: elite performance starts with genuine connection. Over more than two decades in the classroom and on the sidelines, I have learned that athletes don't care how much you know until they know how much you care.

When your student-athlete trains with me, they aren't getting a one-size-fits-all playbook. They are getting a mentor who understands the intense pressures they face today, believes in their potential, and is deeply invested in them as individuals. Together, we will build the mental toughness they need to succeed in their sport—and the resilience they will use for the rest of their lives.
