Athletic Background
Summary of Career and Accomplishments
I became a team captain sophomore year and maintained this position through the next three years of playing at Eastern University. Junior year I received the "Female Sportsmanship Award" in the MAC conference. All four years I was on the Athletic Honor Roll. I averaged just under 10 ppg my Sophomore and Junior year.
Who is the best coach you ever had and why?
The best coach I ever had was Tom Dillard. He was the assistant coach that recruited me at Eastern. Not only did he spend extra time helping me work on my skill set, but he also helped create a confidence in me that was often lacking. His positive but constructive criticism helped develop me into the player and captain that I was.
What should athletes and parents know about you?
"Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard"
This is a quote that would describe me well as an athlete. Any free time I had could find me in the gym putting up extra shots, in the fitness center working on strength and mobility work, or in the training room working on recovery work. A hustle mindset can't be bought and my goal was always to outwork my opponents by going for the extra loose ball (which may have caused me a broken nose at one point), or fighting for the rebound. I will not take it easy on your athlete but will fill them with positive reinforcement to work hard.
Coaching Background
Summary of Coaching Background
This is my third season working as an assistant varsity/head JV coach for a local high school team. I am also the coach for a local AAU team through the Delco Goats. I coached Girls on the Run throughout high school and college because I have always had a passion for influencing the youth (which makes sense as I am a 5th grade teacher).
How can you help someone improve their game?
My goal is to improve your athlete's skill set, and expand their basketball knowledge, while also working on speed, agility, and strength, to help improve them as an all-around athlete.
What does a typical training session look like?
A typical 1 hour training session will take place at a convenient location (usually a local park).
- Warm-up/Mobility
-Footwork, speed, explosiveness drills
- Fundamentals (ball handling, lay-up drills, spot shooting)
-Focused skill work (this will look different for each athlete and will meet their needs. From guard moves and distributions to post moves, we will meet whatever goals and strengths your athlete needs)
