Get to know Ashley

Former Division I field hockey player helping athletes reach their goals.

Hi! I'm Ashley, a former NCAA Division I field hockey player at Saint Louis University and a lifelong athlete who understands what it takes to grow both on and off the field. After more than 15 years of playing competitive field hockey, I know that every athlete develops differently. My goal as a coach is to create an encouraging, challenging environment where players feel confident asking questions, making mistakes, and improving every session. Whether we're working on stick skills, defensive positioning, shooting, game strategy, or overall confidence, I tailor each lesson to the athlete's goals and experience level. More than anything, I want my athletes to leave every lesson feeling more confident than when they arrived. The technical skills matter, but so do communication, resilience, work ethic, and believing in yourself. Those are lessons that helped shape my own athletic career, and I'm excited to help the next generation of players develop those same qualities.

About me

Hi! I'm Ashley! I'm a former NCAA Division I field hockey player at Saint Louis University and recently graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Communication and minors in Marketing and Sports Business.

Outside of field hockey, I love spending time outdoors, hiking, being at the beach, skiing, being around animals (I grew up on a farm!), traveling, and watching just about any sporting event. Sports have always been a huge part of my life, but one of my favorite things now is helping young athletes discover the same confidence, friendships, and life lessons that the game gave me.

Whether you're just picking up a stick for the first time or hoping to play at the next level, my goal is to create a positive environment where athletes can learn, improve, and enjoy the process. I truly believe confidence is just as important as skill, and I want every player to leave each lesson feeling proud of the progress they've made.

Whether you're just starting out or preparing for middle or high school, club, or college, I tailor every lesson to your specific goals and skill level.

I can help athletes improve:

Stick handling and ball control

Passing and receiving

Shooting and finishing

Defensive positioning and tackling

1-on-1 attacking and defending

Game awareness and decision-making

Confidence and mental approach

Speed of play and overall fundamentals

Beyond technical skills, I focus on helping athletes understand why they are doing something so they become smarter, more confident players during games.

Every session will be a little different, but a typical session includes:

Dynamic warm-up and stick work

Technical skill development through game-like drills

Position-specific training

Small-sided competitive drills to build decision-making

Constructive feedback throughout the session

A recap with key takeaways and drills to continue practicing independently

I want every athlete to leave each lesson feeling challenged, encouraged, and more confident than when they arrived.

I've been fortunate to learn from several incredible coaches who have shaped not only the player I became but also the coach I strive to be.

Growing up, I had the opportunity to play under Carla Tagliente, now the Head Field Hockey Coach at Princeton University. She taught me the importance of attention to detail, competing with confidence, and always striving to improve.

During high school specifically, Tracey Larson Arndt and Hannah Prince had an enormous impact on me. They challenged me to become a better player while always believing in me as a person first. They created an environment where hard work, accountability, and trust allowed every athlete to grow, and they reminded me that confidence is something coaches can help build.

The biggest lesson I learned from all three of them is that great coaches do much more than teach skills, they build relationships, inspire confidence, and help athletes become better people. That's exactly the kind of coach I hope to be!

As both a former Division I athlete, I understand that every athlete is different. My goal isn't just to run drills, it's to build confidence, develop strong fundamentals, and help each player enjoy the game while reaching their individual goals.

Parents can expect someone who is dependable, organized, and genuinely invested in their child's development. Athletes can expect a coach who will encourage them, challenge them, and create a positive environment where it's okay to make mistakes and grow.

Above all, I want every athlete I work with to leave each session more confident, more knowledgeable, and more excited about the game than when they arrived.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re looking to message a coach for the first time, go to their profile and click “Send a Message”. A type box will show, where you can enter and send your message. To follow up with a coach you've already contacted, log into your account and find the 'Inbox' tab. You'll see your message history and be able to send another note.

Once you find a coach that fits your needs, go to their profile, select the package you'd like to purchase, and click 'Book Lessons'. Here, you can reserve your desired number of lessons along with the number of athletes who will be training. After sessions are booked, coordinate the dates/times for each session on your calendar - using the calendar is important since this is how your coach will get paid.

Paying AU coaches via cash, Venmo, or any 3rd party is strictly prohibited. AU coaches know this, but their partnership with us is to split all bookings 80/20 - so coaches keep 80%. We use our 20% to help them find clients & manage their business. Without the split, we wouldn't be able to help our coaches & community thrive!

We integrate with Stripe - the largest & most secure payment processor in the US - to facilitate bookings. Paying online is required, and it simplifies the process for our coaches since it helps track their schedule & earnings in one place. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

Each coach typically has at least one preferred training location. You can see the location(s) by going to your coach's profile and finding the 'Training Locations' section. If a coach doesn't have locations listed here, you can message the coach to see where they train. Some coaches are willing to travel to clients for lessons, or even meet halfway.

Each coach sets their own schedule for training. You can see a coach's general availability by going to their profile and finding the 'Availability' section - it will list the days and times. If a coach doesn't post their availability, or if your preferred coach doesn't have your desired times available but you want to double check, message them to see if they can work with your schedule.
